Your first troll and early goals

Step

In short Ruler is the right first target, and getting it teaches you how every evolution in the game works.

You begin every session as the base Troll character, which has no attacks but regenerates 5 health per second. Evolution is the core loop: find the right item, use it while you are playing as the correct troll, and you transform. The badge for Ruler is literally labeled 'Common Beginner Troll', so it is the game's own suggestion for where to start.

Join as Troll you spawn as the base character automatically; no setup needed.
Find a Ruler Cup drink it while playing as Troll to become Ruler and earn the Ruler badge.
Learn the item-on-troll pattern almost every evolution works this way: right item plus right troll equals new form.
Use a Bone on Troll to become Sans, then apply a Last Breath Soul to Sans to reach Last Breath Sans.
Use a Rusty Axe on Troll to get Trollge.exe.
Apply a Hopes and Dreams Cup to Troll to get Hopes and Dreams.

How troll roles shape your playstyle

Every troll in the game belongs to at least one role that describes how it fights or supports.

Rusher	applies heavy pressure and moves fast, good for chasing down enemies.
Zoner	controls space with ranged attacks so you can poke safely from a distance.
Nuker	deals extreme damage in a short window.
Tank	absorbs huge amounts of damage; its main weakness is Nukers.
Grinder	built for collecting chests quickly due to speed or the ability to spawn them.
Summoner	relies on minions that attack other players, but minions cannot target dummies or bosses.
Snowballer	starts weak and grows much stronger the longer a fight goes on.
RNG	depends on luck each time you act; Gambler Trollface is the only troll with this mechanic.

Surviving Bad Trolling

Tips

In short Distance and patience beat Bad Trolling far more reliably than raw aggression.

Bad Trolling has 825,000 HP and spawns once every 30 minutes at a 1-in-15 chance. Its most dangerous move, Up We Go, lifts you into the air and hits for 1,950 damage. Its counter skill, Effortless Counter, heals it for 2,200 HP every time an attack lands on it while it is active.

Tips worth knowing

Stay at range — its Katana hits for 1,000 damage up close, and Hard Slash sends a shockwave for 1,600 even at mid-range.
Watch for Katana Dash, a lunge that deals 1,450 damage with roughly a 7-second cooldown.
When Effortless Counter is active, stop attacking entirely and wait for it to expire; landing hits during it only heals the boss.
Bring a high-health troll — the damage values on nearly every move can one-shot lower-HP forms.
Killing it drops a Bad Trolling Soul, a Neon Shard at 1-in-2 odds, and 15 Light Chests.

Getting items onto the right troll

Check

In short Before you use any item, confirm you are playing as the exact troll it requires.

A wrong base troll wastes the item entirely. Some evolutions also branch — the same cup can produce different trolls at random — so knowing the odds beforehand saves frustration.

Check that you are playing as the listed base troll before using any cup or item.
For branching cups such as the Oil Cup (which can give Trollface Oil, Ghost, or Aurora Woods), accept that the result is random.
Confirm whether the item you need is still obtainable many cups and souls are locked to past events and can no longer be found.
To get Chara, apply a Determination Soul to LV. 20 Frisk, not to base Troll; and the success chance is 1 in 5.
To attempt Hollow Trolling or Omnipotent, use a Charged Omniversal Energy Cube on Troll each attempt is a 1-in-5 chance.

Trading safely

In short Record every trade and never swap to a different game to complete a deal.

Trading uses the chat command ;trade followed by the other player's username or even a shortened version of it. Only trolls can be moved through the trade window; items must be dropped on the ground, which creates real scam risk. All trades must happen in public servers.

Worth watching out for

The classic switch scam swaps the offered troll for a worse one in the final moment before both sides accept watch the trade window until the last second.

Trust trading, where someone sends you something small first to build confidence, is a setup for a larger scam later.

Cross-trading promising items from a different Roblox game in exchange for something here — is a permanent ban for both sides, even if no scam was intended.

Items must be dropped on the ground to trade them, which makes the process prone to scamming.

Record your trades so you have evidence if you need to report a scammer in the Discord server.

Badges and what they tell you

Badges are awarded in public servers only — you cannot earn them in private sessions. Some require event items that are no longer in the game, so those badges are now permanently locked. The ones below are still reachable through normal play.

Cup: A drinkable item you use while playing as a specific troll to evolve into a new form.
Evolution: The process of using a cup or item on the right base troll to transform into a stronger or different troll.
Bad Trolling: The strongest boss in the game, with 825,000 HP, spawning every 30 minutes at a 1-in-15 chance.
Effortless Counter: Bad Trolling's ability that heals it for 2,200 HP whenever an attack lands on it while active.

FAQ

When does Bad Trolling appear?

It has a 1-in-15 chance to spawn on a 30-minute timer. Defeating it drops a Bad Trolling Soul, 15 Light Chests, and a Neon Shard at 1-in-2 odds.

Can I get event trolls if I missed the event?

Most event trolls — from Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Easter — become unobtainable once the event ends. The only way to get them afterward is through trading with someone who already has one, and many of them are trade locked anyway.

How do I start a trade with another player?

Type ;trade followed by the other player's username in chat — you can use a shortened version of the name and it will still work. Only trolls transfer through the trade window itself; items have to be dropped on the ground, so be very careful about who is nearby when you do that.
