Controls you need to know before your first fight

Check
In short Learning the controls before jumping in saves you from dying to mechanics you didn't know existed.

Every action in MUGEN is mapped to a single key, so it's worth spending a minute on the tutorial inside the map before your first real fight. The tutorial also comes with rewards. Blocking and parrying are two different moves that share the same key, so pay attention to the difference.

  • Attack hold Left Click or M1 to swing
  • Block hold F to guard incoming hits
  • Parry tap F when your bar is full to break an attack
  • Dash press Q to dodge
  • Chase press C to catch a runner or extend a combo
  • Scan press T to locate nearby players

How styles work and how to get them

Summary
In short Killing players raises your killstreak, and a high killstreak lets you spin for new styles.

Styles are the different combat movesets you can use. You unlock them by building a killstreak through PvP and then spinning. Enemies also drop items when defeated, and those drops are the resource you spend to open additional styles.

  • Killstreak how many kills you have without dying; spinning for styles requires a high one
  • Spin the action that randomly awards a new moveset
  • Mythic the rarest spin result, worth a badge of its own
  • Drops items enemies leave behind, used to unlock further styles
  • Style switching swap movesets to match the enemy you are fighting

Building your killstreak

Step
In short A steady, patient approach builds a longer streak than rushing in and dying.

Killstreak badges are awarded at 10, 50, and 100 kills in a row. Losing a streak means starting over, so survival matters as much as aggression. Use the Scan key to find players and the Chase key to stay on top of anyone who tries to run.

  1. Press T use Scan to find a nearby player before engaging
  2. Engage carefully block and parry first to read how they fight
  3. Chase if needed press C the moment someone tries to escape a combo
  4. Keep going the streak badges are at 10, 50, and 100, so each milestone is worth pushing for

Boss timing and weekend drops

Tips
In short Knowing when bosses spawn and when drop rates double is the easiest way to get more out of your play sessions.

Bosses appear on a regular schedule, so planning your sessions around them pays off. Weekend sessions are especially valuable because drop rates double, meaning you collect style resources twice as fast from every enemy and boss you defeat.

Tips worth knowing
  • Bosses spawn every 15 minutes, so wrap up any grinding before one appears and be ready.
  • Weekend drop rates are double the normal rate.
  • You can take on bosses with other players, which makes them significantly easier to bring down.

The Infinity gamemode and long-session milestones

Summary
In short Infinity is a full playthrough challenge, and reaching massive execution counts takes serious time investment.

Completing a full run of the Infinity gamemode earns you the SURVIVOR badge along with a visible tag. Separately, the game tracks your total executions across all play — milestones sit at 100, 1,000, 10,000, and 100,000. These are long-term goals rather than things you chase in a single session.

  • Infinity gamemode complete a full playthrough to earn the SURVIVOR badge and tag
  • 100 Executions the first execution milestone badge
  • 1,000 Executions the second milestone
  • 10,000 Executions the third milestone
  • 100,000 Executions the final and hardest execution milestone

Tips worth knowing
  • Drops from enemies are the main free resource for unlocking styles.
  • Weekend sessions with doubled drop rates give you more drops.
  • The tutorial rewards are free and available to every new player, so complete it first.
  • There is one active redeem code tracked on this page — enter it in the in-game code field before it expires.
  • Each code works once per account, so do not delay after you find one.
