Chiidoku — The three rules every puzzle is built on
About
OverviewChiidoku is a puzzle game that mixes Sudoku logic with Minesweeper-style rules, using Chiikawa characters instead of numbers. You place one character per row, per column, and per color, making sure no two characters touch — even diagonally. This guide walks you through the rules, the four modes, and how to push through harder levels without getting stuck.

The three rules every puzzle is built on
CheckEvery puzzle in Chiidoku has exactly one correct answer, and you can always reach it through logic alone — no guessing needed. The three rules below apply to every single puzzle, no matter how far you get.
- One character per color each color has exactly one matching character, so once you place it, that color is done.
- One character per row and per column no row or column can ever hold two characters.
- No touching, including diagonally two characters cannot be in any of the eight squares surrounding each other.
The four modes and when to play each
TableEach mode has a different goal, so picking the right one for where you are saves a lot of frustration.
| Standard | the main mode, with levels to work through, coins to earn, and a win-streak counter to chase. |
| Ranked | you and other players solve the same puzzle at the same time, and the fastest correct finish wins. |
| Endless | randomly generated puzzles that keep coming, with no level cap. |
| Daily Puzzle | one fresh puzzle every day that resets every day, with a reward for completing it. |
Progress milestones in Standard mode
StepStandard mode hands out a badge each time you hit one of six milestone levels. The puzzles get harder as the numbers climb, but the three core rules never change — so the solving method stays the same throughout.
- Level 1 finish the tutorial and confirm you understand all three rules before moving on.
- Level 5 by here the basic moves should start feeling natural.
- Level 10 a sign that your skills are genuinely developing.
- Level 50 reaching this shows you can keep your momentum across a long run of puzzles.
- Level 100 the game considers you a skilled player at this point.
- Level 500 the expert milestone and the biggest goal Standard mode offers.
What to do when you get stuck
WarnBecause every puzzle is solvable by logic, hitting a dead end means a rule was broken somewhere earlier. Work back through each rule in turn rather than guessing your way forward, since a wrong guess just creates more conflicts to untangle.
Getting the most from Daily Puzzles and Ranked
TipsDaily Puzzles refresh every day, so a puzzle you skip is gone for good. Ranked mode puts you against other players solving the same puzzle, where speed matters alongside accuracy.
- Check the Daily Puzzle every day before it resets — missing a day means missing that day's reward.
- Ranked games use the same puzzle for all players simultaneously.
- Once you have cleared Standard, Endless mode keeps generating new random puzzles so the challenge never runs out.
Glossary
Glossary- Win streak
- The number of Standard-mode puzzles you have completed correctly in a row without a mistake.
- Diagonal touch
- Two characters sitting in squares that share only a corner, which is illegal in Chiidoku just like side-by-side touching.
- Daily Puzzle
- A single puzzle that refreshes every day and gives a reward when completed.
- Ranked mode
- A competitive mode where every player solves the same puzzle simultaneously and the fastest correct solution wins.
Common questions
FAQDo I ever need to guess?
No — every puzzle is designed to have one solution reachable through logic alone. If you feel like you have to guess, it almost always means a diagonal-touch violation was missed somewhere. Run back through all three rules and you will find the opening.
What should I do after finishing Standard?
Endless mode keeps producing randomly generated puzzles, so you can keep sharpening your skills there. Ranked mode and the Daily Puzzle also stay fresh indefinitely, since Ranked pits you against other players and the Daily Puzzle resets every day.
Is Ranked mode right for beginners?
Ranked asks for both accuracy and speed at the same time. Work through enough Standard levels to place characters quickly and confidently, then move to Ranked when solving feels routine.
