Locos Online (formerly Sodor Online) is a Roblox railway game where you drive engines across the Island of Sodor, pick up freight, and deliver it to earn money and unlock new characters. This guide covers how to start a job, which jobs pay the most, how rolling stock couplers work, and where to find the in-game tutorial.

How to start and complete a job

Step

In short Every run follows the same four steps: spawn, check the menu, load up, then deliver.

The in-game Locos Online Tutorial, added on January 1, 2025, walks you through this process across its first two pages.

Spawn your engine go to an engine spawner and pick the vehicle you want to use.
Open the jobs menu read the job description carefully, because it tells you the load point and the delivery point.
Head to the load point drive to the location the job specifies and get your wagons filled.
Deliver follow the track to the destination and complete the drop-off to finish the job and collect your pay.

Things to check when a job goes wrong

Warn

In short Load and delivery locations have changed since the game's early versions, so old guides will send you to the wrong place.

An in-game playbook existed from March 9, 2023, but it was never updated and was removed on September 5, 2024. Its directions for Stone, Coal, and Fish were already out of date before it was pulled.

Worth watching out for

Stone now delivers at Ulfstead, not Brendam Docks.

Coal now loads at the Coal Mines, not Killaban Yards.

Fish now delivers at Barrow-in-Furness, not Vicarstown.

If something in the game does not respond or work, try switching to PC the game's own description states that some features only work there.

When in doubt, open the Locos Online Tutorial added January 1, 2025 it shows the current jobs menu and current load-point information.

Unlocking extra engines

Check

In short New engines come from two places: earning them through play or buying a gamepass, with VIP engines requiring a separate store.

The jobs menu shows which engines are unlockable and displays leaderboard colours — the tutorial's second page explains what those colours mean.

Check the jobs menu to see which engines are tied to in-game unlocks.
For gamepass engines such as Spencer, Boco, Murdoch, Harvey, Fergus, Billy, and Sonic, buy them as individual passes.
Packs including the Diesel 4-Pack, Logging Locos 3-Pack, Experimental Engines 3-Pack, International Engines 3-Pack, and Geezer 3-Pack — bundle multiple engines at once.
All VIP engine purchases must go through the Asset Layout Store, not through the Roblox game page itself.

Glossary

Spawner: A point in the game world where you summon a vehicle — there are separate spawners for engines and for rolling stock.
Coupler: The connector at each end of a wagon; blue means the wagon is for a specific job, white means you can load it freely.
Gauge: The width of the track — the game has standard gauge, narrow gauge, and miniature gauge, each with its own engines and rolling stock.
Gamepass: An add-on bought with Robux that unlocks an additional engine or bundle of engines.
Asset Layout Store: A separate store outside the Roblox game page where VIP engine gamepasses must be purchased.
Rolling stock: Any wagon, coach, van, or crane that an engine pulls rather than drives itself.

FAQ

Should I play on PC or mobile?

The game states directly that some features only work on PC. If anything stops responding or behaves oddly on mobile, switching to PC is the first thing to try.

Why does the load or delivery point I read about somewhere not match what I see in game?

Several jobs have been moved since the game launched. Stone delivers at Ulfstead now, Coal loads at the Coal Mines, and Fish delivers at Barrow-in-Furness. Open the Locos Online Tutorial inside the game to see the current locations.

Where do I buy a VIP engine?

VIP engine purchases must be made in the Asset Layout Store, which is separate from the Roblox game page. The game's own description makes this clear in all-caps.
