Controls to learn before anything else
CheckArchived is harder than most Roblox RPGs, and the controls cover a lot of ground. Before you push into the City, make sure you can do all of the following without thinking about them. The tutorial area is the right place to drill these until they feel natural.
- Movement and basic actions WASD to move, Q to dash, Space to jump
- Equip and attack E to equip or unequip your weapon, LMB to attack
- Defensive moves F to block, RMB to parry incoming attacks
- Heavy and charged attacks R for a critical or heavy attack, hold LCtrl then LMB for a charged attack
- Execute and ragdoll cancel B to execute a knocked opponent, Space while ragdolled to cancel it and get back up
- Dialogue skip V skips dialogue; that same key also lets you carry a knocked opponent outside of dialogue
How combat actually works
TipsArchived's fights are not button-mash situations. Every tool you have serves a specific purpose, and knowing when to use each one matters more than raw level.
- Block with F when enemies string together attacks and you have no safe window to parry.
- Parry with RMB right as an attack lands — a successful parry opens the enemy up for a counterattack.
- Use R for a critical or heavy attack whenever you have a gap in the enemy's pattern, since it deals more damage than a normal LMB hit.
- The charged attack (hold LCtrl, then LMB) is powerful but leaves you standing still.
- When an enemy is knocked down, press B to execute them for a big damage hit.
- If a heavy hit puts you into ragdoll, press Space immediately to recover.
