Getting your first ship and early credits

Step
In short Liking the game and joining the group gets you the Covrette, which is faster than the starting Orbiter and makes early progress much smoother.

Before you do anything else, like the game on Roblox and join the SpaceSim group — doing both unlocks the Covrette ship for free, and it travels noticeably faster than the default Orbiter. Once you have it, your first job is to build up credits through quests and resource sales so you can upgrade its speed. Talk to Commander Alex at the start; he gives you a quest to destroy five ice asteroids. Fly into space, switch on energy bolts using the yellow button in the upper-right of the screen, and shoot ice asteroids until five are destroyed. Then fly to the Moon, take the quest from Doctor Marcus to mine three moon rocks, return them, and repeat that mining run for a second batch.

  1. Like the game and join the group this unlocks the Covrette ship at no credit cost
  2. Accept Commander Alex's quest destroy 5 ice asteroids using the energy bolts (yellow button, upper right)
  3. Fly to the Moon take Doctor Marcus's quest to mine 3 moon rocks and return them, then mine 3 more
  4. Watch for the apple quest if Marcus asks you to bring an apple to Emma, collect it from the Lunar Base and deliver it to Emma at the ISS, not Boris
  5. Sell resources on Earth convert everything you have into credits after each run
  6. Spend credits on Covrette speed keep upgrading until you reach 24 speed before moving on

Mid-game destinations and ship upgrades

Tips
In short Mars is the best mid-game base because its moons Deimos and Phobos carry higher-value resources than the Moon does.

Once your Covrette hits 24 speed, it is time to push outward. Mars is the recommended next stop rather than Venus, because Deimos and Phobos offer better resource payouts. Farm and sell until you have 25 credits, then buy the Rocket. After that, prioritize upgrading the Rocket to at least 40 speed and 60 durability before attempting anything further out. Resources from Ceres, Io, and Callisto are worth more and will speed up that process. Europa also holds an Alien sample, and Commander Alex eventually gives quests for Pluto resource retrieval and recovering storage containers.

Tips worth knowing
  • Head to Mars first — its moons Deimos and Phobos have higher-value resources than the Moon
  • Save 25 credits and buy the Rocket
  • Farm Ceres, Io, and Callisto — their resources sell for more and speed up your upgrade grind
  • Target 40 speed and 60 durability on the Rocket before going further
  • Grab the Alien sample from Europa
  • Check Commander Alex regularly — later quests include Pluto resource runs and container recoveries

End-game income and the Eclipse ship

Summary
In short Sun Onyx and Gold Nuggets from Icarus and Mercury give you a reliable credit loop, and saving 200 credits for the Eclipse unlocks the best ship in the game.

At 40 speed and 60 durability you can push close to the Sun. Icarus and Mercury both yield Sun Onyx and Gold Nuggets, which together bring in around 28 credits roughly every 15 minutes. Fill the time between those runs by selling resources from Jupiter's moons or completing harder quests. Once you have 200 credits, buy the Eclipse. Upgrade it heavily and the rest of the solar system — including distant destinations needed for the tougher badges — becomes much more manageable.

  • Icarus and Mercury source of Sun Onyx and Gold Nuggets, around 28 credits per 15-minute cycle
  • Jupiter's moons fill downtime between Sun runs with resource farming here
  • Hard quests Commander Alex's later missions add extra credits on top of resource sales
  • Eclipse ship costs 200 credits and is the strongest ship available
  • Post-Eclipse goal use it to reach difficult destinations and clear remaining badges

Centaur asteroids and the weekly season reset

Check
In short Logging in right after the Saturday reset gives you first access to fresh Centaur asteroids and the best chance at Mythic-rarity items.

Every Saturday morning the season resets and a new set of Centaur asteroids appears across the solar system. Each season brings 34 Centaur asteroids, and 10 of them contain crates. Crates hold items across four rarity tiers — Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic. Finding all Centaur asteroids in a single season earns you the Centaur Seeker badge. Their locations are random each season.

  • The season resets every Saturday morning and Centaur asteroids spawn in new random spots
  • Look for the 10 crate-bearing asteroids only 10 of the 34 Centaurs each season actually carry crates
  • Collect all 34 in one season this is required for the Centaur Seeker badge
  • Crates can drop Rare, Epic, Legendary, or Mythic items
06

Destinations worth visiting for badges

Table
In short Many badges are tied to specific locations or actions, so treating them as a checklist is the most efficient way to work through them.

A large part of the long-term content in The Space Simulator is visiting specific places and doing specific things to earn badges. Some are straightforward travel goals; others require tools like the Hubble Space Telescope or involve timed seasonal events. The Hubble Telescope lets you photograph celestial bodies and is needed for both the Vivid Astronomer and Astro Capturer badges, as well as the Explorer of the Unseen badge that requires photographing Planet X. Sedna is one of the most remote destinations — you must reach it in an Orbiter you personally spawned to earn the Frozen Patience badge.

The Moonrequired for Reached The Moon! and Back to the Moon badges
ISSvisit to earn the Visited the International Space Station! badge; also where Emma is for the apple quest
Hubble Telescopeneeded for Vivid Astronomer, Astro Capturer, and Explorer of the Unseen (Planet X photo)
Icarusfinding and reaching it earns the Icarus badge on top of its resource value
Sednamust be reached in a player-spawned Orbiter for the Frozen Patience badge
07

Things that will get your account banned

Warn
In short Speed hacks and any other exploits are explicitly forbidden.

The game's own rules make clear that all cheating, speed hacking, and similar exploits are strictly forbidden.

Worth watching out for
Speed hacks and exploits are banned outright the game explicitly prohibits them
Co-op play is fine and encouraged playing with friends has no restrictions
08

Free-to-play versus Roblox Plus

Table
In short Everything in the game is reachable without spending money; Roblox Plus only makes your ship slightly faster.

Roblox Plus members get a 15% speed increase on their spaceships. Collecting every orb in the game unlocks VIP status with no purchase required.

Free playersfull access to all planets, moons, quests, badges, and the VIP orb unlock
Roblox Plus members15% faster spaceships, nothing else exclusive

Common questions

FAQ

How do I reach Sedna for the Frozen Patience badge?

The badge specifically requires you to get there in an Orbiter that you personally spawned.

Does the apple quest always ask me to find Emma?

Not always — the quest can direct you to either Emma or Boris. If it says Emma, collect the apple from the Lunar Base and bring it to her at the ISS. If it says Boris, or if you have already finished that quest, go sell your resources on Earth instead.

Can I play cooperatively with friends?

Yes — the game is designed to be played with friends and there are no restrictions on co-op play.
