What to do the moment you spawn
StepThe game starts during the day, which means GEFs are not an immediate threat. Use this time to explore the buildings around you and collect everything useful you can carry. Before anything else, pick a building that will serve as your base. Once you have a candidate, start moving supplies there.
- Scout nearby buildings check multiple structures for food, weapons, building materials, and boards.
- Pick a base choose a building with as few windows and doors as possible, since every opening is something you will need to seal.
- Collect boards first boards are what you use to seal windows and doors.
- Move supplies to your base once you have a location, consolidate everything there rather than leaving items scattered.
- Watch the clock keep track of how much daylight remains so you are not still scavenging when night hits.
Sealing your base before dark
CheckGEFs attack at night, and they will find any opening you leave. Every window, every door, and every gap in the walls needs to be boarded up before darkness falls. It only takes one missed spot to let them in, so go through the whole building methodically before you settle in for the night.
- Every window is boarded do not leave even one uncovered.
- All doors are sealed doors need the same attention as windows.
- No gaps between walls or in the ceiling check the interior carefully for holes that are easy to overlook.
- Lighting is ready have a flashlight available so you can still see inside your sealed, dark base.
Getting through the night
TipsOnce night arrives, the GEFs become a serious danger. If you are playing with others, split up responsibilities so someone is always watching for breaches.
- Stay inside your sealed base — a fully boarded base can hold through the night if you do not open it.
- Work with other players if you can — multiple people can split defense duties and cover more of the base at once.
- Manage your flashlight carefully — use it only when you need to.
- Focus only on surviving until dawn.
Supply priorities during the day
TableDefense materials are the difference between surviving the night and not. Food and medical supplies help, but they do nothing for you if the GEFs get inside.
| Boards and building materials | needed to seal every opening before night |
| Weapons and flashlights | important backup if you are forced to move or something breaks |
| Medical kits | useful to have on hand for injuries |
| Food and drinks | restore health |
Surviving beyond the first night
TipsMaking it through night one is a real achievement, but the challenge grows from there. Every new day is another opportunity to reinforce your base and gather more supplies.
- Reinforce your base each day — add more boards and patch anything that was damaged during the night.
- Identify a backup location in case your current base becomes too dangerous to hold.
- Watch what other players do — you can pick up useful ideas just by paying attention to how teammates handle problems.
- Prepare earlier each day — if the night felt close, start boarding up sooner next time.
When you keep dying at night
WarnIf GEFs are consistently getting to you, the answer is almost always in how you prepared during the day. Run through the same checklist every single run until the preparation becomes automatic.

Common questions
FAQWhy do GEFs keep getting into my base even though I think it is sealed?
Even one uncovered window or door is enough for them to enter, so go through every opening in the building again before you settle in. Pay special attention to gaps between walls and holes in the ceiling, which are easy to miss.
Is it worth teaming up with other players?
Multiple players can divide up the work of sealing the base and keeping watch, which makes the whole defense much more reliable.
What happens after I survive the first night?
A new day begins, giving you more time to scavenge and strengthen your base. The difficulty increases as more nights pass, so you will need to prepare more thoroughly each time.
Do I need a flashlight to survive?
If your base is fully sealed and you do not need to move around, you can get through the night without one. A flashlight is useful if you need to move inside a dark base or if something forces you outside.
