Picking your role when you join
Step
When you first load in, you decide whether you want to drive or take on a different part of the operation. The two main paths are train engineer and roleplay character, which includes roles like station staff or passenger.

- Head to your train if you picked engineer, make your way to the assigned train.
- Sit in the cab take the engineer's seat at the front of the train to begin driving.

Getting the most out of roleplay
Tips
Engineer is the most hands-on role, but the other positions fill out the simulation in ways driving alone cannot. Spending time as station staff or a passenger shows you how the pieces of the operation fit together. If you join the official community group, you can also take part in organized operation events.
- Rotate through multiple roles across sessions to understand the whole operation, not just the engineer's side.
- Hop into a server with friends and assign yourselves different jobs before the session starts.
