Rules you must follow
WarnThe game enforces a strict set of rules, and the penalties are permanent. Exploiting the game, using bugs or glitches to ruin other players' sessions, building inappropriate structures, and griefing are all bannable offenses. Everything you do in the game also falls under Roblox's Terms of Use.
Base design approaches
TableThere are three distinct ways to design a base, and each one works through a different mechanic.
| Conventional | layers of durable blocks designed to eat as many explosions as possible before zombies reach you |
| Stealth | a minimal, low-profile build using plain materials like wooden planks, oak logs, and cobblestone to avoid drawing zombie attention |
| Obstacle | a structure loaded with jumps and height changes that exploits the zombie jump delay to keep humans mobile and zombies struggling |
Pillar and material tips
TipsHow you distribute your materials matters as much as which materials you use. Iron, diamond, and obsidian blocks each require more than one point-blank explosion to destroy, making them your most valuable structural assets.
- Aim for pillars that are 7 to 8 blocks tall with roughly 5 to 6 blocks of space between each one
- Place your toughest blocks — iron, diamond, obsidian — in the bottom half of each pillar, where explosions hit hardest
- Four durable blocks at the base of a pillar is the target for each individual pillar in an ideal build
- More separate pillars always outperforms one thick pillar when it comes to surviving multiple explosions
- Disconnecting a structure from its support lets you create movable block doors and other unconventional designs
- Torches and other non-full blocks can be used in creative ways, especially when combined with the disconnect technique
The Hunter zombie
CheckThe Hunter is a Skirmisher-class zombie that shoots arrows to slow and highlight human targets. It starts with 30 arrows, so running out is a real risk if you fire carelessly. Its melee punch is weak — roughly on par with a wooden sword — so hand-to-hand fighting is a last resort. If you are playing as a human, the Hunter's glowing eyes and glowing arrows make it visible from a distance, which gives you a head start on reacting.
- Always fully draw the bow before firing a half-drawn arrow deals less damage and has no slowing or highlighting effect
- Reclaim missed arrows whenever it is safe to do so; 30 arrows run out fast in a long fight
- Prioritize shooting humans on the ground rather than those on top of bases, so other zombies can close in on slowed targets
- If you are being chased, mix fully drawn shots with quick half-drawn ones to disrupt the pursuer's rhythm
- Save fist attacks for situations where a human is sealed inside a structure and the melee hitbox can reach them through a gap
- As a human fighting a Hunter, use ranged weapons like a bow or trident the Hunter has low health and is vulnerable at range
Sandbox mode and map selection
TipsThe game offers multiple maps alongside a sandbox mode. Two new maps and a revamp of an existing map were added in the same update that introduced sandbox.
- Sandbox mode — rules are fully adjustable, making it ideal for practicing builds or playing casually with friends
- Two new maps plus a revamped map were added in the same update that introduced sandbox
Glossary
Glossary- Conventional base
- A base style built purely for durability, designed to force zombies to use as many explosions as possible to break through.
- Stealth base
- A low-profile base built with plain materials and placed away from heavy zombie traffic to avoid attracting attention.
- Obstacle base
- A base that uses jumps and height changes to exploit the zombie jump delay and keep humans mobile.
- Zombie jump delay
- A game mechanic that slows how quickly zombies can jump, which obstacle bases are specifically designed to exploit.
- Skirmisher
- A class of zombie focused on mobile or ranged combat; the Hunter is one example.
- Spectral arrow
- An arrow fired by a fully drawn Hunter bow that slows the target and highlights them for other zombies to see.
- Disconnecting blocks
- A building technique where a structure is detached from its support after construction, used to create movable doors and other unusual designs.
- Sandbox mode
- A game mode where you can adjust the rules freely, suited to practicing builds or casual play with friends.
Common questions
FAQMy base keeps getting destroyed. How do I make it last longer?
Focus on spreading strong materials like iron, diamond, and obsidian blocks across the bottom halves of multiple separate pillars rather than concentrating them in one spot. More individual pillars absorb more explosions overall.
How do I deal with the Hunter zombie as a human?
Ranged weapons like a bow or trident are the most effective response given the Hunter's low health pool, and you can spot it early because its eyes and spectral arrows glow visibly from a distance.
What happens if I see someone cheating or griefing?
Exploiting, bug abuse, and griefing are all bannable offenses under the game's stated rules.
