Valley Prison is a Roblox roleplay game set inside a realistic prison, where you pick a side and play it out against everyone else. This guide covers how each role works, how to escape or stop an escape, how to level up, and what to do when things go wrong.
In shortYour role sets your spawn point, your goal, and how the whole session feels, so pick with purpose.
When you join Valley Prison you choose from five roles before anything else happens. Each one drops you in a different part of the map and gives you a completely different objective.
Inmate
escape the facility before you get caught
Corrections
protect the facility and stop inmates from getting out
Escapee
attack and disrupt other players on the outside
Civilian
explore the areas around the prison freely
State Police
enforce the law, chase down escapees, and make arrests
In shortValley Prison is built for groups, and coordinating roles before a session makes every round more interesting.
The game's design puts different roles in direct conflict with each other. The Communications Server is where you can organize groups, report problems, and connect with other players.
Tips worth knowing
Use the icon that appears above a player's head to tell if they're trying to say something when chat isn't working
Use the Communications Server to organize sessions, report bans, and flag bugs

Warn
In shortMost technical problems clear up with a restart, and persistent bugs can be reported through the official Communications Server.
A patch released on April 15, 2026 fixed several exploits and added an icon above players' heads for when chat isn't working. If you run into a problem that a restart doesn't fix, the Communications Server is the place to report it.
Worth watching out for
Chat not showing uplook for the icon above the other player's head, then try restarting the game
A bug that keeps coming backreport it in the Communications Server rather than waiting for it to fix itself

Common questions
FAQ
Can I switch roles mid-session?
You can change roles between lives.
Is the game playable solo?
You can join and play by yourself, but Valley Prison is built around players on different sides reacting to each other. A full server with people on both the inmate side and the enforcement side makes every round far more interesting.
How do I earn the Escape The Prison badge?
Play as an Inmate and get out of the facility without being stopped.
Why can't I see what another player is typing?
As of the April 15, 2026 update, an icon now appears above that player's head so you can at least tell they are trying to communicate. Restarting the game can also help.
