Surviving as a civilian

Tips
In short Staying alive as a civilian means knowing the map, working with your team, and keeping tasks moving even under pressure.

Civilians win by avoiding the killers and meeting the escape conditions. That means two things have to happen at the same time: you need to stay hidden or mobile, and you need to push through the tasks and item collection that make escape possible.

Tips worth knowing
  • Learn several hiding spots on the map so you always have a backup when the first one is no longer safe.
  • Stay close enough to teammates that you can act together.
  • When you find a task or item that advances the escape, commit to it rather than waiting.
  • Watch and listen for signs that a killer is nearby, and be ready to move before you are spotted.
  • Observe what experienced teammates do and use their movement as a guide when you are unsure what to do next.

Hunting as a killer

Tips
In short Killers win by covering the map smartly, using their special abilities well, and reading where civilians are heading.

When you are on the killer side, your job is to find and catch civilians before they escape. Killers are given special skills and abilities to help with this.

Tips worth knowing
  • Focus your patrols on escape points and areas where useful items appear, since civilians have to visit those spots.
  • Coordinate with your fellow killers to cut off civilians from multiple directions rather than chasing one at a time.
  • Get familiar with your assigned special skills early in the round so you can use them at the right moment.
  • When a civilian starts moving, think about where they are headed and position yourself ahead of them.
05

The Dank Murderer X is built around having lots of new roles to play as. Each role carries its own skills and win conditions. Playing many rounds across many roles is the fastest way to get better.

  • Roles each comes with distinct skills and a distinct victory condition.

Common questions

FAQ

I keep getting the same role — will I ever play a different one?

Roles are assigned randomly at the start of every round, so playing more rounds is the straightforward way to land different ones.

Can I play through the whole game without spending Robux?

The core gameplay — including role assignment and everything that determines who wins — does not require spending anything. Cosmetic items like skins are a separate matter, but they have no effect on how roles work or who wins a round.

Can my friend and I end up on the same team?

Role assignment is automatic and random, so there is no guarantee you and a friend will share a team in any given round.

I have no idea what to do mid-round — where do I look?

Check the UI at the top of your screen, which restates your role and current goal. If that is not enough, watch what your teammates are doing.
