Getting started in town
StepEach town you visit has trinkets available to equip. Picking them up before you head to sea gives you stat boosts right away.
- Check the town look for any trinkets you have not equipped yet before leaving shore.
- Equip your trinkets each one carries a buff such as faster shooting or a higher jump.
- Set sail once your loadout is ready, head out to face the ocean's enemies.
- Fight and collect defeat creatures to earn more trinkets and items.
How trinkets and guinness work
TipsTrinkets give buffs like faster shooting speed and higher jump height, while guinness is a separate system where each rank comes with its own unique boost.
- Trinkets drop from enemies as well as appearing in towns, so you keep building your loadout throughout a run.
- Each rank of guinness carries a different effect, so try several ranks to find what suits your style.
- A shooting-speed trinket lets you clear enemies faster, while jump-height opens up escape routes.
Combat and survival tactics
CheckThe ocean throws enemies and obstacles at you constantly. Boat Dashing — a short speed burst — lets you dodge both. Pairing it with upgraded trinkets makes you harder to pin down and faster at clearing threats.
- Use Boat Dash to pull away from enemy attacks before they connect.
- Return to town regularly to check whether new trinkets have become available.
- Check your guinness rank whenever survival time drops.
Speedrun mode and the leaderboard
StepSpeedrun mode has one goal: defeat the enemy Sheldon as fast as possible. Your time is posted to the global leaderboard, so every second counts.
- Enter Speedrun mode with the best trinkets and highest guinness rank you have.
- Run it multiple times each attempt shows where time is being lost.
- Check the leaderboard comparing your time with other players shows how much room there is to improve.

Common questions
FAQWhat should I do at the very start?
Head to town first and equip any trinkets available there. Once your loadout is set, sail out and start fighting enemies to collect more trinkets and grow your build from there.
I keep dying quickly — what am I missing?
Go back to town and check whether there are trinkets you have not equipped yet, then look at your guinness rank and swap it out if it is low. Practising your Boat Dash timing also helps, since dodging enemy attacks extends your run.
How do I compete in Speedrun mode?
Enter the mode with your strongest trinket loadout and highest guinness rank, then repeat runs to shave time off your personal best and climb the global leaderboard.
Do I need to spend Robux to progress?
Enemies drop trinkets and other items throughout a run, so your loadout fills up through normal play. Speedrun mode also puts all players on the same leaderboard regardless of spending.
