First steps when you join

Step
In short Joining the official group and finishing your character setup puts you in the best position before you step into town.

Before you explore the town, take a minute to handle two quick things. Joining the official Roblox group rewards you with a Toy Car at no cost, so do that first. Then go through the character creation screen to set your look and name. Once those are done, spend a moment getting comfortable with moving, jumping, and opening your in-game phone, because you will use all three constantly.

  1. Join the group you receive a Toy Car just for joining.
  2. Create your character pick your appearance and name on the character creation screen.
  3. Practice basic movement get comfortable with walking, jumping, and interacting with the world.
  4. Open your in-game phone this is how you contact friends, so learn where to find it early.

Claiming land and building your home

Check
In short Picking a plot and starting construction, however small, is the foundation everything else in the game builds on.

Once you are in town, your first real goal is finding a plot and putting up a home. You do not have to finish the whole thing at once — starting simple and expanding later is a perfectly fine approach. While you build, it helps to have some income lined up, since earnings from jobs can go straight toward making your home bigger and better.

  • Have you chosen a plot of land you like?
  • Have you started placing at least the basic structure of your home?
  • Have you picked a job in town to start earning money?
  • Have you contacted a friend through your phone to come help or visit?

Jobs and earning money

Tips
In short Trying out several jobs helps you find the one that balances fun and income for your play style.

The town offers a variety of professions, each with its own tasks and pay. The money you earn goes toward home upgrades and shopping, so picking a job that keeps you engaged matters. You can switch jobs whenever you want, so there is no reason to stay stuck in something that feels boring.

Tips worth knowing
  • Try several different professions before settling — switching is always an option.
  • Working the same job alongside a friend makes it more social.
  • Spend your wages on home improvements and shopping to keep progress moving.
05

Getting around: cars, trains, and planes

Table
In short Each vehicle type covers a different kind of trip, so using all of them opens up more of the town.

NewSmith RP gives you several ways to travel, and each one offers a different experience. Cars are the most hands-on option and double as a way to reach the campsite with friends. Trains move you between different parts of town. Planes let you see the whole town from above.

Cardrive yourself and friends to the campsite or anywhere around town.
Trainmove between town areas when you need to cover distance.
Planetake in an aerial view of the entire town from high up.
06

Using the in-game phone

Tips
In short The in-game phone is the main tool for coordinating with friends and making roleplay richer.

Your in-game smartphone lets you message and call other players, which is how most coordination happens in NewSmith RP. Use it to arrange meetups, plan roleplay sessions, or just stay in touch while you are on opposite sides of town.

Tips worth knowing
  • Use messages to agree on a meeting spot before heading there.
  • Use the phone to contact friends and stay in touch.
07

Free play versus private servers

Table
In short The standard free server covers everything core to the game, and a private server is only worth it if you want a controlled space for your friend group.

Every main activity — home building, jobs, vehicles, shopping, the beach — is available on the standard server without spending anything. The group-join Toy Car reward is also free. Private servers cost extra but add options that standard servers do not have.

Standard serverhome building, jobs, vehicles, shopping, beach, and the Toy Car reward all included at no cost.
Private serveradds weather customization, custom time settings, flight ability, and the option to remove unwanted players.
08

When you are stuck or losing interest

Warn
In short Most blocks in NewSmith RP come down to a small handful of things worth checking before you give up.

If the game stops feeling fun or you cannot figure out what to do next, the problem is usually one of a few things. Switching jobs, reconsidering your plot location, or simply messaging a friend to join you fixes the majority of situations where progress stalls.

Worth watching out for
If your job feels tedious, switch to a different profession rather than grinding through it.
If your plot is not working for you, moving to a different location is always an option.
If basic actions like moving, riding vehicles, or opening the phone are not working, revisit the tutorial to make sure the controls are clear.
If the game feels lonely, use the in-game phone to invite someone.

Common questions

FAQ

Can I have fun playing alone?

Yes — building a home, working jobs, and driving around all work fine solo. The roleplay side of the game gets more interesting once you have other players to interact with, so it is worth using the phone to find someone to team up with.

Can I change jobs after I have already started one?

Yes, you can switch professions at any time. If a job stops being enjoyable or you just want to try something different, go ahead and change.

What exactly does a private server add?

Private servers let you change the weather and time of day, use a flight ability, and remove players from the session.

What is the Toy Car reward and how do I get it?

Joining the game's official Roblox group gives you a Toy Car as a free reward.
