Getting started as a pair
StepBecause the game is built entirely around two players, you cannot make meaningful progress alone. Before you touch any obstacle, take a minute to get your setup right.
- Bring a friend join the game together, since one player cannot clear stages on their own.
- Find Gerald every world has a character called Gerald; talk to him to save your progress so you can pick up where you left off next session.
- Read the signs the game places signs throughout stages that carry useful hints, so do not run past them.

Stage types and what to expect from each
TableBuddy Buddy offers stages across a wide difficulty range. Each type tests your teamwork differently.
| Easy obby | a beginner-friendly obstacle course section. |
| Standard platformer | a core platforming challenge. |
| Obstacle course | multiple hazards combined in sequence. |
| Lava stage | touching the floor sends you back to your last checkpoint. |
| Tower | the stage keeps going upward for a long stretch. |
Staying in sync during a run
TipsMost failed attempts come down to the two players moving at different rhythms or one person acting without warning the other.
- If your partner is not ready, wait — rushing ahead will stall the run.
- When you keep falling at the same spot, identify exactly where you are losing it.
- Practice a short section repeatedly until the movement feels automatic before moving on.
What to check when you are completely stuck
CheckIf you have attempted a section multiple times without success, go through this list before giving up or grinding the same attempt over and over.
- Check that your Lock Device setting is correct wrong controls make precision moves much harder than they should be.
- Look for an alternate route some sections have more than one path.
- Break the obstacle into smaller pieces clear the first part, stop, then tackle the next part separately.
- Confirm both players are starting each attempt at the same moment, not one slightly ahead of the other.
Building route memory over time
TipsMemory plays a large role in Buddy Buddy. The layout of obstacles, safe landing spots, and jump timing all become easier once your brain has stored the pattern.
- Run the same section several times in a row rather than always starting from the top.
- Talk through the route with your partner out loud — saying 'jump here, dodge left' helps both of you lock in the sequence.
- Focus on one checkpoint gap at a time rather than trying to memorize the entire stage at once.
- After a fall, replay the moment in your head to pinpoint which part of the sequence broke down.

Common questions
FAQCan I play Buddy Buddy alone?
No — the game is designed for exactly two players and cannot be cleared solo. You need a partner before you can make real progress through any stage.
Do I lose everything if I fall?
You go back only to your last checkpoint, not the start of the world. There is no penalty beyond repeating the section between the checkpoint and where you fell.
How do I save my progress?
Find Gerald in the world you are playing and talk to him. He records how far you have come so you can log out and return to the same spot later.
What if my controls look wrong?
Go to Settings, scroll to Lock Device, turn it on, and select the device you are actually playing on. This corrects the control display immediately.
Is there anything to buy in the game?
There are no paid passes or purchasable items. Every stage and feature is available to all players from the moment they join.
