Subconscious — Setup before you start
About
OverviewSubconscious is a liminal-horror game where you play as someone who can finally dream again after teetering on the edge of madness — but now you need to wake up before the dream swallows you whole. Two episodes are currently available, each built around exploration, puzzles, secrets, and unsettling entities. This guide covers how to get through both episodes, what the hidden badges ask of you, and how to set the game up so it hits as hard as the developers intended.

Setup before you start
CheckThe developers built this game around sound and visuals working together, so cutting corners on either one dulls the whole experience. The game also warns upfront that it contains flashing lights and jumpscares, so it is worth knowing what you are walking into. Low-end devices can have trouble running it as intended, so check your hardware before you commit to a long session.
- Graphics push graphics quality to the maximum before loading in.
- Headphones put them on; the developers specifically call this out for the best experience.
- Flashing lights if you are sensitive to photosensitive effects, be aware they are in the game by design.
- Jumpscares sudden scares are part of the experience.
- Device if your device is low-end, expect the game to behave unpredictably.
