Spelling Bee — Before you join a game
About
OverviewSpelling Bee is a fast-paced multiplayer game where you listen to a word being read aloud, then type it correctly before the clock runs out. You compete against other players in real time, so speed and accuracy both matter. This guide covers the basics, how to improve your spelling and typing, how difficulty scales up, and how to earn badges.

Before you join a game
CheckAudio is required — you cannot play without hearing the words.
- Make sure your speakers or headphones are plugged in and working.
- Check that your device volume is turned up and that Roblox is not muted.
How a round works
StepEach round, the game reads a word aloud. You have a limited amount of time to type it correctly and submit. Getting it right earns you points toward the leaderboard; a wrong answer or a timeout scores nothing for that round.
- Listen pay close attention from the very first syllable.
- Type enter the word exactly as you heard it.
- Submit send your answer before the timer expires.
- Keep going the game runs multiple rounds, so one missed word does not knock you out.
Choosing the right difficulty
TableThe game offers several gamemodes that go from very simple words up to extraordinarily long and rare ones.
| Beginner / Novice | the right starting point if you are new or unsure of your spelling. |
| Moderate / Advanced | move here once Beginner feels easy. |
| Randomizer | pulls words from every difficulty at random, which builds broad muscle memory and smooths the jump to harder modes. |
| Extreme / Genius / Master | difficulty rises sharply at this level. |
Getting better at hard words
TipsOnce words stretch past ten or fifteen letters, memorizing them letter by letter stops working. Focus on the building blocks instead.
- Learn common prefixes such as mono-, bi-, tri-, pseudo-, thyro-, pneumo-, photo-, and spectro- — they appear constantly in long words.
- Learn common suffixes such as -graphy, -ectomy, -meter, and -phosphate for the same reason.
- After each round, identify the specific letters or letter clusters that tripped you up rather than reviewing the whole word.
- Once your accuracy is solid, work on typing speed so you can bank correct answers quickly and not lose to the clock.
- Use the official practice site at robloxspellingbee.vercel.app to drill specific gamemodes or individual words outside of live games.
Homophones and tricky sounds
WarnHomophones are one of the most common reasons players lose a round they thought they had right.

Common questions
FAQWhat do I do if I cannot hear the words?
Check that your speakers or headphones are connected and that your device volume is on.
How do I handle words that sound like other words?
Those are homophones. The game does include them. Over time you will start to recognize which sound maps to which spelling from memory.
How do I build up a long streak for the streak badges?
A single wrong answer resets the streak.
