About

Overview

Tripod Game is an asymmetric action game inspired by War of the Worlds, where one team pilots giant three-legged machines called Tripods and the other team fights back as humans. Each side has a completely different job, so this guide covers both roles, the hazards you will run into, and the badges you can earn along the way.

Two sides, one round

Table
In short Your role is decided randomly at the start of every round, so you need to know how to play both sides.

At the beginning of each round, the game randomly assigns you to either the Tripod team or the Human team. You cannot choose. Tripods aim to kill humans and destroy the Site, while humans aim to shoot down Tripods and protect the Site.

Playing as a Tripod

Tips
In short Tripods are powerful but can still be brought down, so use your weapons aggressively and always be ready to eject.

As a Tripod you have heavy firepower, including a Flamethrower that can burn humans. The biggest skill to learn is the eject — when your Tripod is about to be destroyed, you have less than one second to press X or the eject button and survive the crash. Miss that window and you go down with the machine.

Tips worth knowing
  • Use your Flamethrower to deal with humans.
  • The moment your Tripod starts going down, hit X or the eject button immediately — you have under one second.
  • Ejecting in time earns the Escape Artist badge, though the game calls it a cowardly move.
  • Watch out for high-voltage hazards — getting struck earns the Electric Shock badge.
  • The Excel is a special threat in the game; its Heatray can kill you outright.
03

Playing as a Human

Tips
In short Humans can bring down a Tripod using the Missile Launcher.

Humans can use the Missile Launcher to kill Tripods. Tripods aim to destroy the Site while humans defend it.

Tips worth knowing
  • The Missile Launcher is capable of killing a Trilon (a Tripod unit).
  • Protect the Site from Tripods.
04

Hazards to know

Warn
In short Two environmental threats — high voltage and The Excel's Heatray — can end your round instantly.

Beyond enemy players, the game has hazards that can kill you directly.

Worth watching out for
High voltage will shock and kill you if you contact it.
The Excel's Heatray vaporizes anyone it hits.
05

Badges and how to earn them

Table
In short There are seven badges in total, and most require you to do something specific in the middle of a real round.

Each badge has a fixed unlock condition.
