The core loop: Grace, upgrades, and combat

Step
In short Everything in Journey to Heaven comes back to collecting Grace and spending it on upgrades.

Defeating enemies drops Grace, and Grace buys upgrades that let you defeat enemies faster. Once that cycle is running smoothly, progress becomes largely self-sustaining.

  1. Defeat enemies hit enemies in your current area to start earning Grace.
  2. Open upgrades spend the Grace you collect to make your character stronger.
  3. Unlock Angel form once your upgrades are strong enough, this is the first big goal to aim for.

Major milestones to reach

Check
In short Three clear checkpoints mark your progress: Angel form, Angel form 2.0, and the Stairs to Heaven.

The game's badges show exactly where the major turning points are.

  • Angel form unlocked the first landmark, showing you've built enough strength to transform.
  • Angel form 2.0 achieved a higher tier of the same transformation, reached by continuing to upgrade after the first unlock.
  • Stairs to Heaven cleared a transitional stage between realms; passing it moves you into the next area.
  • Offerings made offerings are a game mechanic that exists in the game.
  • Bows collected Normal Arrow, Hellraiser Bow, and Celestial Bow each have their own unlock badge, so treat each one as a checkpoint.

Idle play and when to check back

Tips
In short The game plays itself between your sessions, so returning periodically to spend Grace is enough to keep moving forward.

Your character keeps fighting while you're away. Set a rhythm of checking in, buying upgrades, and leaving again.

Tips worth knowing
  • You don't need to watch the screen; come back after a break and the Grace will have built up.
  • Up to 20 people can join one room.
06

What to do when you're stuck on a guardian

Step
In short If a celestial guardian is stopping you, the fix is almost always more upgrades.

The game's celestial guardians test whether your upgrades are keeping up.

  1. Check your Grace balance if you have unspent Grace, buy whatever upgrades are available before the next attempt.
  2. Drop back one area return to an easier zone, farm Grace until you can afford more upgrades, then come back.
