First steps when you join
Step
The moment you join, you earn the Welcome badge automatically. Your first real task is finding Soul Stealer, the only sword that costs zero Leaderboard Kills. The game itself warns that low-end devices can struggle with the visual and audio effects, so starting in a free private server lets you learn without pressure.
- Join a private server they are completely free.
- Leave the spawn area and follow the fence in the center of the main area until you spot Soul Stealer.
- Equip Soul Stealer no Leaderboard Kills required, so anyone can pick it up immediately.
- Move to a public server once you are comfortable, since several badges cannot be earned in private servers.
How Leaderboard Kills work
TableLeaderboard Kills (LB Kills) are the main currency for unlocking new swords. You can see your current count in the red counter at the bottom-left of your screen. Killing enemies is the primary way to earn them, but LB Potions scattered around the map add more, and during Halloween and Christmas, Night Chests and Locked Ice can give between 350 and 4,000 LB Kills at once.

Soul Stealer grinding path
Step
Soul Stealer has three weak phases — at 150, 2,000, and 8,000 kills — where your stats drop sharply. Soul Stealer's top speed of 250 makes it one of the fastest swords in the game.
- Phase 0 to 4 Farm Noobs until 80 kills.
- Phase 5 (80 kills) Move to Gladiators. Just before hitting 150 kills, chip Gladiators down to low health so the weak phase at 150 is over fast.
- Phase 10 (1,000 kills) Switch to Guardians, but watch for build-up moments where your mobility drops.
- Phase 11 (1,500 kills) Return to Gladiators right before the weak phase at 2,000 kills.
- Phase 13 (2,700 kills) Go back to Guardians.
- Phase 15 (5,000 kills) Move to Heavenly Guardians or Darkness Demons.
- Phase 20 (35,000 kills) Head to Spectrals.
- Phase 21 (100,000 kills) You earn the Celestial badge and unlock access to the Light sword.
Surviving and skipping weak phases
TipsMany swords temporarily lose most of their health and damage at certain kill thresholds. Some weak phases block ability kills entirely until you land at least one normal hit first, so always swing before pressing an ability.
- Hit an enemy with a normal attack before using an ability during weak phases — some phases block ability kills until you do.
- Soul Stealer at 2,500 kills: you move slightly faster than Gladiators, so spam the R ability on them to push through (difficulty 3/10).
- Death at 1,500 kills: chip Guardians down in the previous phase, then finish them with the Death Scythe E ability (difficulty 2/10 to 6/10 depending on approach).
- Aquatic at 1,250 kills: use the E ability on Gladiators to skip (difficulty 3/10).
- Killstreak Ultimatum at 6,900 kills: use Spectrals or Darkness Masters, or gather Heavenly Guardians at 7,400 kills and hit them with your ability — failing this one can kill you (difficulty 8/10).
- Tank Grouping: get a player with much higher health to absorb enemy hits while you deal damage.

Badges that need special conditions
Warn
Most badges unlock by reaching a kill threshold with the right sword, but a handful have extra requirements that can permanently block you if you miss them.
Items worth picking up
CheckItems spawn around the map and despawn after a while. Some are only available during seasonal events.
- Books used to enter the portal for Stealth or sacrificed at the altar for Ruler.
- Cube found in the Darkness Cave; sacrificed at the altar to progress toward Ruler.
- Nil spawns in the tavern in Stealth Town every few minutes; only collect it with base Luminance (no variants) — it is linked to the Lost But Not Forgotten badge and can also be used to force a Celestial Moon.
- Solar Orb needed to activate the solar rune and unlock Solarity; interact with the fire altar in the hole near Heavenly Guardians.
- Lunar Soul used to activate the Lunar rune and unlock Lunar sword.
- Night Keys found at the graveyard; each key gives a 3% chance to unlock Nighter Omen.
- LB Potions spawn around the map; also available at the Halloween shop in XL and XXL sizes.

Leave the spawn area and walk along the fence running through the center of the main area. Soul Stealer costs zero LB Kills, so you can pick it up and equip it immediately.
How do I unlock Death's secret phase?
Reach between 600,000 and 666,665 kills on Death, then find a pitch-black orb (a rune) somewhere on the map — it can spawn in the Ruler's Altar area, the Mysterious Island maze dead ends, or near the fire crystal cave. Interact with it and look for the '???????' message at the bottom of your screen confirming it worked. Then reach exactly 666,666 kills; if you overshoot, you have to start the rune step over.
Can I use a private server to earn all the badges?
A private server is free to use, but you must never use private commands in it or every badge becomes unobtainable for that session. Badges like Awakened Sacrifice, True Despair, and Pure Slaughter can only be earned in public servers.
What does Temporal actually do, and is it worth grinding?
Temporal earns 1 LB Kill every second, and its max phase requires 6,000 seconds (1 hour and 40 minutes). Completing it gives the 'The Infinite Power of Time' badge and also counts as progress toward TimeLine. It ranks near the bottom of LB Kill efficiency.
What is the fastest way to earn LB Kills regardless of which sword I have?
SubSpace with the E ability ranks first for LB Kill efficiency. Nuclear's E ability and Purely Hatred's abilities are strong alternatives across the early game and into the high-LB brackets.
