A Silent Town Guide: What the Listeners are and why they are dangerous
About
OverviewA Silent Town is a cooperative survival horror game where you and up to 27 other players are trapped in a town overrun by monsters called Listeners — blind creatures with enormous ears that hunt entirely by sound. Your goal is not to escape, since every exit is blocked, but simply to survive as long as possible by scavenging supplies, building a base, and staying quiet.

What the Listeners are and why they are dangerous
SummaryListeners cannot see you at all, but their enormous ears pick up any sound you make. That includes voice chat — if your microphone is on, the monsters can hear you talking. Multiple Listeners roam the town at once.
- Blind hunters they detect you through sound, not sight
- Voice chat speaking into your mic alerts nearby Listeners to your position
- Multiple monsters more than one Listener is active at a time
- No escape every exit on the map is sealed

Permanent upgrades and what you lose on death
TableThere are two very different categories of progression in A Silent Town. Knowing which is which prevents frustrating surprises.
| Stat upgrades | purchased with in-game money and kept permanently across all future sessions |
| In-run loadout | Hammers, weapons, and all other supplies found during play |
| On death or leaving | your entire loadout is lost immediately |

Common questions
FAQCan I escape the town?
No. Every exit on the map is blocked, so there is no way out. The only goal is to stay alive for as long as possible.
Will my Hammer and weapons carry over to my next session?
No. Your loadout is not saved. Anything you pick up during a run is lost the moment you die or leave. Only permanent stat upgrades carry over.
Is it safe to use voice chat?
Voice chat is risky because Listeners can hear you speak just as they hear any other sound.
How many players can be in one game?
Up to 28 players can share the same map at once.
