First steps when you join

In short
Walking the map and checking your inventory right away saves a lot of confusion later.
Backpacking drops you into a large open world with no single quest telling you what to do next. The fastest way to get comfortable is to spend the first few minutes just moving around and seeing what you have.
- Walk the area get a feel for the terrain, where the water is, and where hills rise up.
- Open your inventory see which items you already carry, including any tent gear.

Playing solo versus playing with friends

Because this is a roleplay game with no forced co-op, you choose how social your session is.

Glossary
Glossary- Open world
- A large, freely explorable map with no locked zones or forced quest order.
- Roleplay
- A play style where you set your own goals and act out a character or scenario rather than following a fixed mission.
- Inventory
- The screen that shows every item your character is currently carrying.
- Gliding
- An activity where you jump from a high point and travel through the air under your own control.
- Mallows
- The in-game currency you receive when you redeem a treasure chest.
- Kayak
- A small paddle-powered boat used for water exploration, separate from the larger boat added in the Boats Update.

Walk around the starting area to get a sense of the map, then open your inventory to see what items you have.
What did the Boats Update actually add?
It added boats as a new way to travel on water, letting you reach parts of the map that are too far for a kayak.
How do I earn the King Fisher badge?
You need to catch ten or more fish within a single game session.
Where is the Strongman machine for the Strongman badge?
The Strongman machine is at the Carnival. Aim for a score of 1,000 points on the machine.
