Watch a flood rise — Getting started in your first session
About
OverviewWatch a Flood Rise is a relaxed Roblox game where you hang out on a map while water slowly climbs around you. The goal is to explore, collect studs, and unlock badges — most of which reward you with a special item. This guide covers how to get started, what to watch for as the water changes, and how to track down the trickier badges.

Getting started in your first session
StepThe game drops you into a map where a flood is already on its way up. You do not need to do anything special to get going — just being present in the server for a while earns you the Obligatory Welcome Badge automatically. After that, check your backpack to see the items that badge unlocked.
- Open the backpack on PC, press the backtick key (`) to see your tools and any items you have received from badges.
- Stay in the server the welcome badge is awarded by the server after you have been present long enough, so just let the game run.
- Watch the water the flood rises gradually, and the water can change state during a session, so pay attention to what is happening around you.
How studs and the flood cycle work
SummaryStuds are the main thing being counted in this game. Your total keeps climbing, and crossing each milestone threshold unlocks the next stud badge. The flood does not just rise and stop — it can turn into acid or toxic liquid at certain points, and once it hits its peak height it recedes in what the game calls Low Tide, before the cycle starts again.
- Stud milestones 1, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, and 1000 total studs each have their own badge.
- Flood states the water can shift into acid or a toxic form, both of which are distinct events during a session.
- Low Tide the flood rises to its maximum height and then pulls back before climbing again.
- Purple Stud each time a stud spawns there is a one-percent chance it will be a rare Purple Stud, which awards its own badge on collection.
- Long-term play reaching 500 studs means you have been through the full game cycle many times over, and 1000 studs is a serious time investment.
Exploration badges worth chasing
TipsBeyond stud collecting, a good chunk of the badge list is about exploring every corner of the map and trying things that are not immediately obvious. Getting bumped by a bubble, finding the jail, reaching high structures, and straying out of bounds are all badge triggers.
- Go out of bounds — there is a badge for leaving the playable area, though the game warns you to get back before something breaks.
- Find the jail — breaking into the jail earns a badge; it is noted as something most players never think to try.
- Reach the highest points — badges exist for standing on tall structures and for reaching something high enough that getting back down is its own challenge.
- Let a bubble carry you — getting caught by a bubble earns the Fragile Flight badge; just pay attention to where you land.
- Try the transport objects — deliberately misusing a piece of transportation on the map unlocks another badge.
Fixing common problems
CheckA few things can feel wrong when you first play but are either easy to solve or not bugs at all. Console players should also know that some tools do not work on that platform.
- Other players pushing you around open Settings and turn off Forced Movement and/or Player Collision.
- Tools not responding some tools do not work on console; switch to PC if you want full functionality.
- Suddenly moved to a new server this happens when the game updates and is normal, not a bug.
- Cannot find a badge item open your backpack with the backtick key on PC; items from badges appear there.

Common questions
FAQDoes earning badges actually give me anything?
Most badges in the game reward you with a special item when you unlock them. Open your backpack after earning a badge to see what was added.
How do I get the Purple Stud badge?
Every time a stud spawns on the map, there is a one-percent chance it will be a Purple Stud. You cannot force it to appear.
What happens when the water reaches the top?
Once the flood hits its maximum height, it pulls back in a Low Tide phase. After that, the water starts rising again, so the cycle repeats.
