About

Overview

Horrific Housing drops you onto a small floating plot of land and throws random disasters at you one after another — the last player still standing wins the round. This guide covers how rounds work, how to survive longer, what the special mechanics do, and how to spend the tokens you earn from winning.

How a round works

Step
In short Knowing the round structure from lobby to winner screen helps you stay calm when chaos hits.

Before each round, players have 20 seconds to vote on a gamemode from three randomly offered options, followed by a 5-second countdown. Once the round starts, everyone is teleported to the play area and placed in front of their own house on a floating plate. Random events then hit the plates one after another. If you die mid-round, you are sent back to the lobby and a random death message appears in chat. The last player alive ends the round and earns 5 to 15 tokens.

  1. Vote pick a gamemode during the 20-second voting window before the round starts.
  2. Spawn you appear in front of your house on your own plate.
  3. Survive events random disasters hit repeatedly; each one is different, so stay alert.
  4. Watch the lobby chat if you die, a death message shows there, and the winner gets a win message when the round ends.
  5. Collect tokens the winner receives 5 to 15 tokens, which can be spent on house cosmetics or pets.

Gamemode differences

Table
In short The gamemode changes how the plates are arranged, which changes how disasters hit you and how easy it is to reach other players.

There are 23 gamemodes in total. Each one rearranges the plates differently. A few modes have their own extra rules on top of the layout change.

Classicplates sit in a 3×4 grid and you can jump between them freely.
One Plateeveryone shares a single plate taken from one player's house.
Two Platesplayers are split evenly across two plates.
Scatteredplates are spread out in all directions.
Bridgeslike Scattered but wooden bridges connect some plates.
Lavagrid layout like Classic, but lava sits below and rises each time a player dies.
Stackplates are stacked vertically; going down is easy but climbing back up is hard.
Lineplates sit in a row and each dead player's plate disappears, shrinking the playing field.

Special events and badges worth knowing

Check
In short Several events have specific mechanics that can catch you off guard if you have never seen them before.

Some events do more than just threaten your life — they change your avatar, give you items, or interact with other players.

  • The anvil crafting event if you find a fallen anvil, you can combine 3 gears there to craft the ultimate weapon.
  • The assassination event one player gets a chance to perform a successful hit on another.
  • The flood button when a flood event appears, look for a button and press it to escape the rising water.
  • The slime event slime on the plate can get you stuck.
  • The freeze event being frozen stops you in place.
  • The teleport event a player can be teleported behind someone else.

Spending your tokens

Summary
In short Tokens are the only currency you earn from winning, and they go toward cosmetics rather than anything that changes how strong you are.

Every time you win a round you receive between 5 and 15 tokens. These are spent on house cosmetics and pets. Nothing you buy changes how your character performs in a round, so every player competes on even footing regardless of how many tokens they have spent.

Source tokens come only from winning a round.
Amount per win 5 to 15 tokens.
Spendable on house cosmetics and pets.
Effect on gameplay none; purely cosmetic.

Common questions

FAQ

What is the minimum number of players needed to start a round?

A round requires at least 2 players in the server to begin. The normal server capacity is 12 players.

Why did my plate disappear mid-round?

If you were playing Line mode, plates are removed from the row each time a player dies. As the round goes on and more players fall, fewer plates remain, so the safe area shrinks.
