Two threats you need to know about

Table
In short The Megalodon and SCP-682 are different enemies that call for the same core response: keep your distance.

The main danger is the Megalodon, a giant shark that hunts you throughout the game. SCP-682 was added in a more recent update and brings a separate threat on top of the shark. Both enemies can be fought with the gun system, but putting distance between yourself and either one is always the first move.

Megalodonthe primary enemy, chases and attacks you across the map
SCP-682a newer addition, presents a different kind of danger from the shark
Gun systemyour main tool for fighting back against either threat
Co-opplaying with others raises your chances against both enemies

Getting started on your first session

Step
In short Sort out your UI before doing anything else, then find other players to group up with.

Before you try to survive anything, make sure the game has loaded properly. If your gamepass does not appear on screen, leave the game and rejoin — that clears the problem most of the time. Once everything looks right, your first priority in the actual game is to find other players.

  1. Check the UI look for your gamepass and other on-screen elements before moving
  2. Rejoin if something is missing leaving and re-entering the game resets the display
  3. Locate other players group up as fast as you can rather than exploring alone
03

Rooms and areas worth knowing

Tips
In short Several named rooms each carry a specific danger, so recognising them early saves your life.

The game has distinct rooms tied to different SCP encounters. Knowing what each one signals gives you a moment to react instead of being caught off guard.

Tips worth knowing
  • The SCP-939 room is dark and isolating — listen for cues that something is nearby
  • The SCP-682 room is where the large reptile threat is most active, so be ready to move fast
  • The SCP-106 room means SCP-106 is present; the game also has a separate SCP-106 dimension you can escape from
  • The SCP-173 room demands you keep it in sight at all times — do not look away
  • Secret rooms exist in the game; finding them is its own reward
04

Using the gun system smartly

Warn
In short The gun system gives you a fighting chance, but careless use can leave you defenceless at the worst moment.

A gun system was added alongside the SCP-682 update, giving players a way to push back against threats rather than only running. Finding a gun opens up tactics that are impossible without one, especially in a group.

Worth watching out for
Ammo is limited, so do not fire at a threat you can simply outrun
The shark can fly for short bursts, so being at height does not make you safe keep that in mind before you stop moving
In a group, one player can draw a threat's attention while others reposition or reload
Fighting back is an option, but escaping is always a valid choice when ammo is low
05

Surviving without spending anything

Check
In short Every core part of the game is open to you without buying anything.

Gamepasses exist but are optional. The shark, the SCP encounters, the gun system, and the co-op play are all available from the start without any purchase.

  • Can you fight the Megalodon and SCP-682? Yes, from the moment you join
  • Can you find and use guns? Yes, through in-game exploration
  • Do you need a gamepass to reach any room or area? No
  • Is co-op available without a purchase? Yes, just join with friends

Common questions

FAQ

My gamepass is not showing up. What do I do?

Leave the game and rejoin. This reloads the UI and the gamepass should appear after you reconnect.

The shark keeps catching me. How do I last longer?

Group up with other players as quickly as you can — more people means more eyes on the shark. Use the environment to keep distance, and save your gun ammo for moments when running is not enough.

Can the shark reach me if I move to a higher spot?

Not reliably. The shark can fly for short periods, so elevation does not guarantee safety. Keep moving rather than stopping in one place.

What happens when I reach the SCP-173 room?

SCP-173 moves when you are not looking at it. Keep it in your line of sight the entire time you are in that room.

Is there anything to unlock by completing the game?

Beating the game earns you a free character, with more planned to be added. There is also a badge for completing it.
