How a round works
SummaryPlayers split into two sides at the start of each round. Survivors win by staying alive long enough; the Bear wins by catching every last survivor. When a survivor is caught, they are eliminated for that round. Roles can swap between rounds, so you will get time on both sides.
- Survivors stay out of the Bear's reach until the round ends
- Bear hunt down and catch every survivor to win
- Caught survivors eliminated for that round and watch from the sidelines
- Co-op playing with friends makes coordination much easier
Surviving as a survivor
TipsThe Bear is faster in open space, so the terrain is your best tool. Buildings, tight corridors, and blind corners all slow the chase down. Stay aware of where your teammates are, because a group that scatters gets picked off one by one.
- Scout the map early so you already know your escape routes before the Bear closes in.
- Duck into buildings and narrow passages to break line of sight.
- Keep your teammates nearby — isolated players are the easiest targets.
- Avoid hiding in the same spot every round, because the Bear will learn your habits.
- Watch where the Bear is moving and pick your path based on what you see.

Hunting as the Bear
TipsThe Bear's size and speed pay off most in wide, open areas. When multiple Bears are in play, splitting up to cover different exits is far more effective than grouping together.
- Chase survivors into open ground where your speed advantage is biggest.
- Cover building exits rather than following survivors deep inside narrow spaces.
- Track where survivors like to hide and check those spots first in later rounds.
- If there are multiple Bears, spread out and funnel survivors toward each other.
Getting started without getting caught immediately
StepA quick lap around the map before the pressure is on will save you more times than any single trick. The same goes for the Bear side — knowing which corners survivors love makes the hunt much shorter.
- Run the map take your first moments to trace the layout, spot buildings, and find tight corridors.
- Pick backup spots find at least two or three hiding places so you are never stuck with only one option.
- Watch the Bear spend the first round observing how the Bear moves rather than only focusing on running.
- Talk to teammates sharing what you see about the Bear's position is one of the biggest advantages available.
- Expect to lose early one bad round teaches you more than reading about the game, so keep jumping back in.
When things keep going wrong
CheckIf the Bear catches you quickly every round, run through this list before changing anything else. Small adjustments to habits fix most problems faster than learning new tricks.
- Are you hiding in the same spot every round the Bear will check it first once they notice the pattern.
- Do you know at least two ways out of every building you enter one exit makes you an easy trap.
- Are you watching the Bear's position while you move running blind leads to accidental collisions.
- Are you splitting too far from teammates total separation means the Bear can take you down one at a time.
Badges worth knowing about
TipsMost badges reward things you will stumble into naturally — winning as a survivor, winning as the Bear, and completing specific rounds. A handful hint at secret content buried in the game, such as interactable objects and hidden spots that go far beyond a normal match.
- Survivor Victory unlocks by making it through a full round without being caught.
- Bear Victory unlocks by catching every survivor in a single round.
- Sam Victory points to a specific challenge involving a character called Sam, separate from the standard Bear.
- Do The Brew, Robot Bear, and Psycho Bear suggest there are interactable objects and breakable boundaries hidden in the game.
- Several badges use reversed or encoded text as their descriptions, which hints that secret areas and story details are waiting to be found.

Common questions
FAQHow do I escape when the Bear is right behind me?
Cut into a building or a tight corridor to slow the chase down. If a teammate is nearby, split in opposite directions so the Bear has to choose only one of you to follow.
I keep playing Bear but cannot catch anyone. What am I doing wrong?
Focus on controlling exits rather than chasing survivors deep into buildings. After a few rounds you will start to see where survivors like to hide, and you can head straight there instead of searching blind.
