01

Your first steps: getting the map and starting quests

Step
In short Talk to the Adventurer in Underground before doing anything else — the free map they give you makes the whole game easier to navigate.

When you first load in, you are at the Top layer. Everything starts with climbing down the ladder to Underground, where the Adventurer NPC sits in the middle of the room. Talk to them and you will receive the Adventurer's map at no cost, which shows the entire game world. From there the Adventurer walks you through each job in order, so just follow their quest text and you will naturally visit every important area.

  1. Climb down drop down the ladder from the Top layer to reach Underground.
  2. Grab the map talk to the Adventurer in the center of Underground to get the free map.
  3. First quest pick up a box from the pile at Top and carry it to Shop; repeat until you have delivered 3 boxes.
  4. Second quest find the mop to the left of the box pile in Shop and clean 5 puddles with it.
  5. Third quest travel to Bar via the Dark Room wizard at Garden and the Metro elevator (press the Floor 3 button), then make 3 pizzas following the tutorial sign next to the dough.
  6. Return after each quest come back to the Adventurer every time you finish a task to unlock the next one.

Early-game jobs and how to reach them

Table
In short Every early job lives in a different area, so knowing how to get there is half the battle.

The Adventurer introduces six jobs before mid-game. Each one requires you to travel to a specific spot, and several of those spots are not obvious at first. Use the map you got from the Adventurer whenever you are unsure which direction to head.

Box deliverycarry boxes from Top to Shop (closest) or Office (furthest; also restocks pizza ingredients).
Janitorpick up the mop in Shop and use it on puddles until each one disappears.
Pizza makingreach Bar through Garden's Dark Room wizard, then Metro elevator Floor 3; follow the sign next to the dough.
Fishingget a rod from Bio's Shop on Sky Island, fish in the pool there by clicking the moment the bobber splashes.
Miningclimb the faint ladder on Sky Island up to Clouds, ride the cannon to Miner's Island to grab a pickaxe, then take the second cannon to Frozen Island to mine.
Unique fishto reach Hecc's lava lake, go through the Bar bathroom toilet into the Sewers, then through Machinery and down through the highlighted area near the lava faucet.

Fishing tips that save you runs

Tips
In short Choosing the right rod for the right pool makes a noticeable difference in what you catch.

Fish live in specific pools, so going to the wrong spot means you simply cannot catch what you need. Different rods are built for different purposes.

Tips worth knowing
  • Click the instant the bobber splashes — fish escape fast, so hesitating costs you the catch.
  • Different fish only appear in their own pools: magma fish live in Hecc's lava, frozen fish and cloudy fish live in their respective areas.
  • The shiny fishing rod raises your odds of catching golden fish.
  • The crystal fishing rod raises your odds of catching crystal fish.
  • The ocean fishing rod pulls fish faster but cannot catch fish that are exclusive to pools.
  • To get back from Hecc, talk to the person near the lava lake who returns you to the Dark Room.
04

Reaching mid-game: the Platinum Hammer upgrade

Step
In short Upgrading your hammer to Platinum at the Metro Researcher is the single gate between early and mid-game.

Once you have completed enough early quests and gathered the right materials, the Researcher in Metro can upgrade your hammer. This unlocks mid-game content, including gardening, the planetarium, the Abyss, and catching. Check recipes both on the crafting table in Warehouse and on the map itself — some recipes only appear when you click them on the map to add them to your crafting menu.

  1. Check recipes go to the hammer table in Warehouse and click any map-pinned recipes to add them to your menu.
  2. Craft an early-game item make at least one item that qualifies as an early-game craft.
  3. Gather hammer materials collect everything the Platinum Hammer upgrade requires.
  4. Get the Ender Chest first climb to the top of the frozen mountain (the Stronk Legs potion helps) and grab the portable Ender Chest before heading to the Researcher.
  5. Talk to the Researcher find them in Metro; if you have the early-game item and all materials, they will upgrade your hammer and move you to mid-game.
05

Mid-game jobs unlocked after the Platinum Hammer

Check
In short Astronomy, the Abyss, and Catching are the three big additions in mid-game, and each needs its own crafted item to access.

After upgrading to Platinum, the Adventurer and the Progression Helper NPC in Metro guide you through four new areas.

  • Gardening started go to Sky Island, talk to the Seed NPC (not the Ghost, who appears at night), spend 50 Bobux plus one completed quest to get a seed bag, then plant seeds in Garden.
  • Seed combining understood planting a new seed where an existing plant is produces a combined plant; for example a Rose plot followed by a Sunflower produces a Sunrose.
  • Night plants acquired the Ghost NPC appears only at night and sells night seed bags; night plants only grow at night while you are actively playing.
  • Planetarium Globe crafted use ores and night plants to craft the globe, then find it in Metro to reach the Planetarium and unlock Astronomy.
  • O2 Mask made before entering the Abyss the recipe is located near the Researcher; also bring a weapon and a pickaxe, and note that powers like Gate do not function inside the Abyss.
  • Fallen Sapling crafted for Catching activate it to reach Garden of the Fallen, grab a catching net, and begin trapping creatures.
06

Astronomy: finding constellations and avoiding meteors

Warn
In short The audio cues are your best tool in the telescope — listen for pitch and speed to close in on constellations, and bail the moment you hear the low meteor tone.

Inside the Planetarium you control a telescope across a large grid. As you move toward any objective the indicator blinks faster and the tone rises in pitch; when you are directly on top of it the indicator vanishes and you get a +1 count. There are three things in that grid and you want to interact with two of them while avoiding the third.

Worth watching out for
Stepping on a red meteor marker immediately deducts 1 to 3 from your total constellation count and boots you out of the telescope temporarily.
Normal constellations (light blue or white) count toward Astronomy quests and are the most common type.
Unique constellations give a permanent +33% efficiency buff to a linked job on first find, then add +1% each additional time up to a maximum of +100% but only the first five job-related unique constellations can be upgraded this way.
The unique constellation Astrum expands the searchable grid.
Each unique constellation is linked to a specific job Vi boosts box delivery, Patienta boosts pizza making, Hortus boosts gardening, Piscatio boosts fishing, Lacu boosts mopping, Lapis boosts mining, and Zamina gives 50% extra damage against mobs.
07

Gardening: passive income and plot upgrades

Tips
In short Regular plants grow offline, so plant them before you log out and come back to Bobux waiting for you.

Gardening is one of the 8 jobs in the game. Plants you buy from the Flower Lady (daytime only) grow even while you are offline. Special plants bought from the Ghost NPC (nighttime only) require you to be online and only grow at night.

Tips worth knowing
  • The Flower Lady only appears during the day. The Ghost NPC only appears at night and sells night seed bags; night plants do not grow offline.
  • Placing rare items on a plot speeds up growth: Demon Soul gives 1.25x speed, Time Pieces 2x, Heart of the Abyss 2.5x, Divine Core 3x, and Celestial Star 5.5x.
  • The Teapot cuts a plant's remaining grow time by 10 minutes when placed on the plot.
  • The Spade removes a plant from a plot entirely.
  • Combining plants works by planting a second seed in the same spot as an existing plant — this produces a new combined variety.
  • Rain weather doubles plant growth while actively playing and even lets night plants grow during the day.
