How the game works

Summary
In short You move through three mazes in order, solving puzzles to open each exit, then defeat a final boss to finish the game.

Identity Fraud is played in first person. Click buttons and interact with objects using the left mouse button, and press Q to drop a pointer marker so you can remember a spot. Each maze has an exit locked behind either a button or a puzzle, and monsters roam the halls the whole time.

  • Goal reach the exit of each maze, then beat the final boss
  • Controls left-click to press buttons and interact; Q to place a marker
  • Exits some open with a wall button, others need a code typed into chat
  • Monsters several different enemies patrol the mazes and will kill you on contact
  • Hard Mode harder difficulty that removes checkpoints and health advantages
  • Time a first run takes roughly one to three hours; experienced players can finish in about ten minutes

Maze 1: The Labyrinth

Step
In short Hug the left wall after the mirror and press the green button to open the metal door.

The Labyrinth is the first maze and holds the highest concentration of monsters in the game. Beige brick walls, dimming lanterns, and large grey gates make it easy to get turned around. A mirror on the wall is your best landmark for staying oriented — the floorboards also run east-west from that mirror, which helps you figure out which way you are facing.

  1. Find your spawn respawn repeatedly until you land in a corner that opens into two corridors; the longer corridor on the right leads faster to the mirror
  2. Reach the mirror take the longer right corridor and turn left at the intersection; the mirror should be straight ahead
  3. Navigate from the mirror turn right at the mirror, then hug the left wall and keep taking left turns at every intersection
  4. Open the exit find the small button on the wall near the metal door; if it is green, left-click it (or press Y on Xbox) to open the doors
  5. Watch the button timer once pressed the button turns red and stays inactive for about seven minutes
  6. Use the spawn trick on Hard Mode landing at the good spawn point cuts the run to roughly 39 seconds

Spotting and surviving Fraud

Tips
In short Fraud disguises itself as another player, so learn the tells before it waves at you.

Fraud is the main monster of Maze 1 and the only one that does not attack on sight. It copies the appearance of a player it has already killed, making it genuinely hard to identify. Once it waves at a target, a chase begins: your field of view widens slightly, you get a temporary speed boost, and a chase theme starts playing. The chase lasts roughly 30 to 45 seconds before Fraud gives up or catches its target.

Tips worth knowing
  • Fraud shows no reflection in the mirror — other monsters share this trait, but it is the easiest check
  • Fraud walks in a strict grid pattern, turning only at exact 90 or 180 degree angles and never glancing around the way a real player would
  • Fraud makes no footstep sounds while walking
  • Fraud floats above the floor and moves at high speed when attacking
  • Fraud only waves at corners and T-intersections, never mid-hallway
  • When idle, Fraud does not swing its arms the way a player standing still does
  • Fraud appears as a red dot on the Advanced Radar and Normal Radar — the only monster that does not appear on either radar is The Last Hurdle
  • If Fraud is completely black with no accessories, it has not stolen an appearance yet
  • Do not look at Fraud after it waves — if it kills someone near you and you saw the wave, you become a target
  • Run loops through two connected hallways during the chase to outlast the 30–45 second timer
  • If someone you know died to Fraud and you later see their clone wave at you, run immediately

Maze 2: The Hedge Maze

Step
In short Follow the turn-by-turn path through each campsite and type the code shown near the exit door into chat to leave.

The Hedge Maze is the second maze, built from grass walls and stone floors with underground levels, wooden bridges, and higher floors mixed in. It is the longest maze in the game — hugging the right wall while skipping known dead ends takes around three and a half minutes. The lighting changes based on an in-game clock, and that affects which monsters are hostile.

  1. Read the light level when lights are on, follow the small moving yellow light to stay on the correct path; when lights are off, follow the red arrows
  2. Entrance path straight, left, right, right, left, right, right, left, left, right, straight, left, left, right, left, left, right, then climb up
  3. Campsite 1 path left, right, straight, right, left, right, left, left, right, right, left, left, right, right, straight, right, through the bridge, left, right, straight to Campsite 2
  4. Campsite 2 path left, left, right, straight, right, right, left, left, right, straight, left, right, right, left, left, right
  5. Campsite 3 path right, right, left, left, right, right, straight, left, straight, left, left, right, straight, through the bridge, left, right, right, right, left, left, left, right
  6. Open the exit type the code shown near the metal door into game chat; on Xbox press Y and use the D-pad to enter it
  7. Buy tools at camp find the large boulder with a ladder at each campsite to access the shop where you can purchase the radar, advanced radar, and maze timer
  8. Kate/Alice is not hostile while the lights are on
06

The Advanced Radar

Check
In short The Advanced Radar is a gamepass tool for tracking monsters, but it will not detect The Last Hurdle.

The Advanced Radar beeps once per second and marks nearby monsters and players as small red dots, with your own position shown as a large blue dot in the center. It does not tell you whether a dot is a monster or another player. You can also buy it at campsites inside Maze 2.

  • The Advanced Radar costs 300 Robux as a gamepass
  • The Last Hurdle is the only monster that does not appear on the Advanced Radar
  • The radar screen does not update until the next beep
  • If someone has a radar visible in their hand, they are not Fraud Fraud copies cannot own one

The final boss: The Last Hurdle

Warn
In short The Last Hurdle cannot be detected by any radar, so you will get no warning before the fight starts.

After clearing all three mazes you reach the Boss Arena, a circular concrete room. The Last Hurdle is the only enemy in this area, and it is the only monster in the entire game that appears on neither the Advanced Radar nor the Normal Radar.

Worth watching out for
You cannot scan for The Last Hurdle before entering the arena
Hard Mode players face this boss without the checkpoint and health advantages that Normal Mode provides
Beating the boss in Normal Mode earns the Normal Mode badge; completing it in Hard Mode earns the Hard Mode badge
08

Normal Mode vs Hard Mode

Table
In short Hard Mode removes checkpoints and health benefits.

Both modes send you through the same three mazes and the same boss fight.

Normal Modeincludes checkpoints and health advantages
Hard Modeno checkpoints, no health advantages, no gamepasses helping you
Rewardeach mode awards its own separate badge on completion

Common questions

FAQ

What do I do if the Maze 1 exit button is red?

The button stays inactive for about seven minutes after someone presses it.

How do I tell Fraud apart from a real player?

Check the mirror — Fraud has no reflection. Also watch for grid-pattern movement, no footstep sounds, and the fact that Fraud never looks around or swings its arms while standing still. If it waves at you, start running immediately.

Someone in the game said they are an admin. Should I trust them?

No. The game's own page warns that people claiming to be admins are lying.

Why does the Maze 2 exit need a chat code instead of a button?

The metal door in Maze 2 is locked with a code displayed near the door, which you type into game chat to open it. On Xbox you press Y and use the D-pad to enter the code shown.
