Six game modes and what each one asks you to do

Summary
In short Each mode tests your flag knowledge differently, so trying all six is worth your time — and each one has its own badge.

Normal is the place to start: finish a round and you unlock the Normal badge. Every mode awards at least one badge just for participating.

  • Normal standard flag-guessing; finish a round to earn the badge
  • Speedrun race against a timer to finish before the clock runs out
  • Type the Flag see a flag and type its name with your keyboard
  • Capitals correctly guess a capital to earn the badge
  • Map explore an interactive, scrollable world map
  • 1v1 go head-to-head against another player; you get one badge for joining and a second for winning

Building your XP and climbing the leaderboard

Step
In short Reaching the key XP milestones unlocks badges while top leaderboard spots earn some of the rarest rewards in the game.

XP increases with every flag you guess correctly. Three XP milestones each have their own badge, and the global XP leaderboard adds an extra layer of competition for dedicated players.

  1. Reach 100 XP unlocks the first XP badge
  2. Reach 1,000 XP unlocks the second XP badge
  3. Reach 10,000 XP unlocks the third XP badge; very few players get this far
  4. Break into the top 50 on the global XP leaderboard earns the Top 50 badge
  5. Claim the number-one spot on the global XP leaderboard earns the rarest leaderboard badge
03

Flag collection and the avatar shop

Check
In short Collecting flags gives you cosmetic options and a string of milestone badges, so it is worth pursuing alongside regular play.

As you play, you collect flags that can be equipped. The collection milestones each have their own badge, and 260 flags is the final collection badge target. The avatar shop lets you browse flag-themed items, and buying anything there unlocks the Donator badge.

  • Collect 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 260 flags to unlock the six collection milestone badges
  • Equip collected flags
  • Look for your own country's flag in the collection for the Collect Your Own Flag badge
  • Buy any item in the avatar shop to earn the Donator badge
  • Switch the game to Shapes mode playing with shapes instead of flags unlocks a dedicated badge

Strategies for learning 771 flags

Tips
In short Breaking the flag pool into smaller regional chunks and using custom categories for your weak spots helps you make steady progress.

The game covers 771 flags including country subdivisions. These approaches will help you make steady progress.

Tips worth knowing
  • Create a custom category with just the flags you keep getting wrong and drill those repeatedly
  • Use Type the Flag mode to reinforce the official name of each flag, not just its appearance
  • To earn the Global Continent badge, you must complete a full round in the Global category, which contains all 197 countries
  • For the All Flags badge, you need 100% accuracy across all 771 flags in a single run of any mode
05

Getting the most out of 1v1 mode

Tips
In short Jumping into 1v1 is low-risk for badge hunters since you earn a badge just by participating, with a second badge waiting if you win.

The 1v1 mode puts you against one other player in a direct flag-guessing contest.

Tips worth knowing
  • Enter a 1v1 match — the Join a 1v1 badge unlocks the moment you participate
  • Win a match to unlock the separate Win a 1v1 badge
  • Invite a friend through the referral system to earn the Invite a Friend badge

Common questions

FAQ

How do I earn the All Flags badge?

You need to complete the All Flags category with every one of the 771 flags answered correctly, achieving 100% accuracy, in any game mode.

How do I join a 1v1 match?

Select the 1v1 mode. You earn the Join a 1v1 badge just for entering a match, and a separate Win a 1v1 badge if you win.

What is the final milestone for the flag collection?

The last collection badge unlocks when you reach 260 flags. After collecting 260, the badge description notes it is time to reset, so 260 is the endpoint for the collection badge series.

Yes. The game advertises 771 unique flags, which includes country subdivisions — not just the 197 countries featured in the Global category.
