Six controls to learn first
CheckDemonfall has a lot of keybinds, and the menu lists all of them. Open it any time with Tab. Rather than trying to learn everything at once, focus on the handful of actions you will use in every single fight. Once these feel natural, the remaining controls are easy to pick up one at a time. You can also open Tab, go to Configuration, and remap or reset controls to suit you.
- R unsheathes your sword you need to do this before you can attack
- M1 (left click) swings your sword and chains into your basic combo
- G activates your Breathing skill during combat
- F holds your block, and pressing M1 while blocking performs a Shoulder Bash
- Q dashes to dodge attacks and reposition
- M opens Meditation, where you spend skill points in the skill tree
Human or demon — choosing your path
TableRight from the start, Demonfall asks you to decide: climb with the strength of humanity or descend into the ravine and become a demon. If you ever want to switch, go to Tab, then Configuration, then Reset to return your character to its starting state and try the other side.
| Human route | many Breathing skills to learn |
| Demon route | unique unholy powers |
| Switching paths | Tab → Configuration → Reset restarts your character |
How combat actually works
TipsDemonfall does not reward button-mashing. Unsheathe with R, then build your combo with M1. Pressing G mid-combo slots a Breathing skill in. Dashing with Q lets you avoid incoming hits and creates space to counter-attack. When you are surrounded, fall back to a wall or piece of terrain to stop enemies from surrounding you.
- Unsheathe before every fight — swings do nothing while your sword is sheathed
- Slip a Breathing skill into your M1 combo with G for heavier damage
- Sprint then press M1 to Lunge forward
- Block with F, then press M1 to Shoulder Bash
- Dash with Q to reposition
- Use terrain to funnel groups of enemies so you fight one at a time
Leveling up and growing your skills
StepEarly on, your two jobs are earning experience and spending it wisely in the skill tree. Every time you gain a level, open the Meditation menu and grab new Breathing skills before heading back out. Gear from enemy drops replaces your old equipment — check what falls and equip upgrades as they come.
- Open Meditation press M after leveling and spend your points on Breathing skills
- Equip drops swap in stronger weapons and armor from fallen enemies whenever you find them
- Keep mana in mind learn how much your current skills cost before committing in a tough fight
- Hit level milestones the game marks Level 10 and Level 30 as meaningful progress points
What to check when you keep losing
WarnEvery enemy in Demonfall can be beaten, but a big difference in levels or equipment makes fights feel impossible. Before blaming luck, run through this list. Dying repeatedly is not a punishment — it is how you learn what an enemy does so you can dodge it next time.
Free-to-play
TipsLeveling, learning Breathing skills, and collecting gear through drops are all free. The game's challenge is intentional — fighting a tough boss many times before winning is part of how it is designed, not a sign you need to pay.
- All skill tree progress is earned through play, not purchases
- Enemy drops alone are enough to keep your gear up to date

Common questions
FAQWhich path should I pick first, human or demon?
If you are unsure, the human route offers more Breathing skills to experiment with. If you later want to try the demon side, Tab → Configuration → Reset lets you start over.
Is it okay to die a lot?
Yes — dying to the same enemy repeatedly is how you learn its attack patterns. Focus a few attempts on watching what the enemy does rather than trying to win, and the fight becomes much more manageable.
Do I need to spend Robux to finish the game?
No. Every level, Breathing skill, and piece of gear is obtainable through normal play.
What do I do when I feel overwhelmed by all the controls?
Start with just R, M1, F, G, Q, and M — those six handle almost everything in a fight. Press Tab at any time to see the full control list.
A specific boss keeps beating me. What now?
Check your equipped gear and spend any unused skill points in Meditation. If those are fine, dedicate a few attempts to purely watching the boss's attack timing rather than trying to deal damage, then start countering once the patterns are clear.
