Those Who Remain is a wave-based survival shooter on Roblox where you and up to seven other players fight off waves of infected, loot for supplies, and build defenses to stay alive. Developed by Peak Development Studios and released on December 21, 2018, the game grows harder with every wave that passes.

Finding and joining a server

Step

When you first load in, the lobby gives you several ways to get into a match. PLAY is the fastest option and drops you into a regular server near your region. If you already know which mode or map you want, the server browser gives you filters to narrow things down by gamemode, map, and region. New servers spin up automatically as players join, and any server that empties out is shut down.

Hit PLAY lands you in the nearest available regular server right away.
Choose ENDLESS, CLASSIC, or HARDCORE jumps you directly into that mode's server pool.
Open SERVER LISTS use the filter icon to search by gamemode, map, and region.
Create a server only available if you own the Permanent Private Servers gamepass; you pick the name, gamemode, and maps.
Set a password optional when creating a private server, so only people who know it can get in.

Loadout basics — weapons and perks

Check

Once you're inside a server and the assets have loaded, you land in the main menu before the wave starts. Weapons are bought with credits, and every weapon has a level requirement. Meeting that requirement gets you the normal price; buying below your level costs more, but the price drops as you close the gap. Perks unlock at specific level thresholds and slot into three categories.

Slot up to three perks by default survivalist perks help overall survival, craftsmen perks improve fortifications, and marksmen perks boost weapon performance.
Pick up the Extra Perk gamepass if you want a fourth perk slot.

Wave survival — what to expect

Tips

Waves send infected at you in increasing numbers and at a faster pace as the game goes on. You earn experience and credits for killing infected, finishing objectives, and surviving each wave. Once every player is either dead or the final wave is beaten, the wave counter resets.

Tips worth knowing

Kill infected and complete objectives every wave — both reward experience and credits.
Loot for items to keep yourself and teammates supplied.
Build and maintain defenses to slow the horde before it reaches you.

Dying mid-wave — your options

Summary

Being eliminated does not lock you out of the rest of the wave. From the spectate screen you can watch any living player and choose when to act. Using a Spawn In Token brings you back into the action, though two conditions apply.

Spectate mode　watch any alive player from the main menu after you die.
Spawn In Token　spend one to respawn into the current wave outside of spectate.
Wave survival bonus　lost when you use a token to re-enter rather than surviving from the start.
One-minute cutoff　tokens cannot be used when less than one minute remains in the wave.

Gamepass features worth knowing about

Table

Credits and weapons are fully accessible without any purchase, and the default three perk slots are enough to build a working loadout. Here is what each gamepass actually does.

Permanent Private Servers	lets you create your own server with a chosen name, gamemode, and maps.
Extra Perk	adds a fourth perk slot on top of the default three.
Freecam (Cinematic Tool)	press K to enter a free-roaming camera mode; not available on console.

Things that will get your account reset

Warn

The game explicitly states that exploiting, glitching, or cheating can result in your account data being reset. That reset includes the loss of any developer product purchases.

Worth watching out for

Do not use exploits, cheats, or glitch abuse account data can be fully wiped as a consequence.

Developer product purchases are not protected from a data reset if you are caught cheating.

Glossary

Wave: A round in which infected attack; each wave cleared advances you to the next, harder one.
Credits: The in-game currency earned by killing infected, completing objectives, and surviving waves, used to buy weapons.
Perk: A special ability unlocked at certain level thresholds that falls into one of three categories: survivalist, craftsmen, or marksmen.
Spawn In Token: An item that lets a dead player re-enter a wave from spectate, at the cost of the wave survival bonus.
Gamepass: An optional purchase that unlocks specific features such as private servers, an extra perk slot, or the freecam tool.
Spectate: A mode you enter after dying that lets you watch any surviving player until the wave ends or you use a token to rejoin.

Common questions

FAQ

Will I get a daily login reward the first time I join a server?

Not on your very first visit. Daily login rewards start becoming available from the next 24-hour period after that first session.

Can I buy a weapon I am not levelled up for yet?

Yes, any weapon except the Barrett M82A1 can be purchased with credits regardless of your level. The price is higher than normal when you are below the requirement, and it gradually comes down as you level up toward it.

How do I play with friends in the same server?

If someone in your group owns the Permanent Private Servers gamepass, they can create a server and optionally lock it with a password to keep it to your group. Without a private server, you can still coordinate to join the same public server through the server browser.
