About

Overview

Build A Boat For Treasure is a Roblox game where you construct a boat from blocks, launch it into a river, and try to reach the treasure at the end while surviving rocks, geysers, bombs, and other obstacles along the way. This guide covers building your first boat, strengthening your design, working with teammates, earning gold, chasing badges, and redeeming codes so you can keep improving.

Your first time through the tutorial

Step
In short The tutorial walks you through every basic action you need, so finish it before experimenting on your own.

When you join for the first time, a box appears at the top of the screen and steps you through the game's core mechanics one page at a time. Arrows point at the relevant buttons so you always know where to look. If you die during the tutorial it closes, so stay alive until you reach the end. The tutorial was redesigned on August 26, 2022 into its current interactive form, replacing an older set of static images.

  1. Learn the Building Space the tutorial shows you where blocks can be placed and confirms that blocks only go inside that zone.
  2. Place your first block page two introduces the Building Tool and shows you how to put a block down.
  3. Remove a block page three covers the Delete Tool so you can fix mistakes without starting over.
  4. Use the Shop page four shows you how to open it and buy a chest.
  5. Build a simple boat page five has you place a Wood Block, a Boat Motor, and a Car Seat together as your first working vessel.
  6. Launch and sail page six covers the launch button, and page seven introduces stages and explains that passing through Stage Dividers is what earns you more gold the further you go.

Building a boat that survives

Tips
In short A compact, balanced boat with strong material on the outside edges and a roof survives far longer than a big, lopsided one.

Before you launch, think about where damage is going to come from. Obstacles like rocks, geysers, and rolling boulders can flip your boat, so you need to plan for what happens when the hull is upside down or sideways, not just right-side up. Boats can be built from any block type except in quests, which restrict certain blocks, so the choices you make at the start matter.

Tips worth knowing
  • Put your hardest blocks near the center of the structure and use weaker blocks as a sacrificial outer layer.
  • Build a roof — if the boat flips, the top suddenly becomes the part hitting water and obstacles, and a roof protects you in that situation.
  • Do not leave one side unprotected — fortify all faces because rocks and geysers can strike from any angle.
  • Use the Scaling Tool to form multiblocks, which makes your materials tougher.
  • Avoid piling on unnecessary blocks — loose blocks, blocks clipping inside other blocks, and unseated players all slow the boat down, and a properly built boat moves just as fast whether it has ten blocks or ten thousand.
  • Widen the base if the boat keeps tipping — height adds instability, width adds stability.
03

Teaming up with other players

Table
In short Playing with a team lets you build bigger and share the workload, but you need to plan around the fact that a teammate's blocks disappear when they leave.

When two or more players are on the same team, the launch button requires more than one vote to activate. Coordinate with your teammates before hitting launch so nobody gets left behind. Any blocks that belong to a teammate are removed from the boat the moment that player leaves the game, which can destroy a shared build instantly — make sure critical hull sections are covered by your own blocks.

Solo playfaster to build, easier to launch, but your boat size and block count are limited to what one person can place.
Team playyou can construct much larger boats and split the building work, but losing a teammate mid-run removes their blocks from the structure.
Isolation Mode onplayers from other teams cannot physically collide with your boat, though they can still trigger any ability blocks on it.
Isolation Mode offother teams' boats can interact with yours during the run, adding unpredictability.

Earning and stretching your gold

Check
In short Reaching further stages and joining the official group are the two most reliable ways to increase how much gold you collect each run.

Gold is the in-game currency you spend in the Shop on new materials and items. The further you travel and the more Stage Dividers you pass, the more gold a run pays out. Reaching the treasure at the end of a full run rewards 105 gold normally, rising to 132 with the group perk, 210 with the Gold Multiplier, or 237 with both. If you pass the Stage Entrance but no other checkpoints, the treasure pays out only 25 gold. Joining the developer's official Roblox group is free and raises your gold income by 25% immediately.

  • Join the official group for the free 25% gold bonus before your next run.
  • Push through Stage Dividers rather than stopping short each one you pass increases your payout.
  • Reach the treasure chest to collect the full run reward and, on your very first completion, unlock the Plane Blocks, Ultra Jetpack, and Sonic Jet Turbine packages in the Shop.
  • Try quests for extra payouts the Thin Ice quest, for example, awards 1000 gold and 100 Ice Blocks on first completion.

Badges worth chasing

Step
In short Reaching the treasure is the first badge milestone, and then it is a matter of surviving an increasing number of unique stages.

There are five obtainable badges in the game right now. Four of them track your stage progress, and one rewards competitive play. Earning badges as a member of Chillz Studios also raises your group rank — one badge is required for Mega Member and two for Royal Member.

  1. Reach the treasure collecting it for the first time earns the Master Boater! badge.
  2. Survive 10 unique stages this unlocks Treasure Hunter!
  3. Survive 20 unique stages Treasure Expert! follows.
  4. Survive 30 unique stages Treasure Master! is the toughest of the stage-count badges.
  5. Win the Best Boater Challenge placing first in this player-versus-player competition earns Challenge Winner!

Redeem codes

Summary
In short Codes give bonus items or gold but expire, so use them as soon as you find them.

Codes are entered in a text box at the bottom of the settings menu. They are not case-sensitive, so capitalisation does not matter. The error message that appears when a code fails does not always mean the code has expired — a mistyped code or one already used on your account produces the same message. This site currently tracks five working codes for the game; you can find them on this page.

  • Expiry codes have deadlines, so redeem them as soon as possible.
  • One use only a code already redeemed on your account will return an error if entered again.
  • Case-insensitive you can type codes in any mix of upper and lower case and they will still work.

Common questions

FAQ

Can I play alone, or do I need a team?

You can absolutely play solo — a compact, well-built single-player boat is a completely valid approach. Teaming up lets you build larger structures faster, but a solo design is easier to control and launch without waiting for other votes.

Why does my boat slow down when I add more blocks?

Loose blocks, blocks clipping inside other blocks, and unseated players all reduce speed. Weld everything together properly and remove any blocks that are not doing a useful job.

What happened to half my boat after my teammate left?

Any blocks placed by a teammate are tied to that player and disappear when they leave the game. Before launching, make sure the parts of the boat that are critical for survival are built from your own blocks, or repair the gaps before the next run.

Does going further in a run actually pay out more gold?

Yes, but only if you pass through the Stage Dividers along the course — simply traveling further without hitting them does not increase the payout.

What do I unlock by reaching the treasure for the first time?

Touching the treasure chest for the first time earns you the Master Boater! badge and unlocks the Plane Blocks, Ultra Jetpack, and Sonic Jet Turbine packages for purchase in the Shop. Every run after that still rewards gold and a gold block, but the badge and Shop unlocks only happen once.
