Earning and spending Retrobux
CheckRetrobux is the currency that runs RetroStudio. You spend it in the Catalog on hats, shirts, pants, packages, faces, gears, and more, and you can also buy or create badges and gamepasses for your own game. Earning it takes no money if you play consistently.
- Log in every day to collect the daily joining bonus, which doubles if you hold Retro Club.
- Publish a game and keep it interesting so other players visit each visit earns you 1 Retrobux (the creator's own visits do not count).
- Check the Promo Codes page regularly; valid codes hand out free Retrobux and items.
- Browse the Catalog using the Cheap sort to spot items you can afford right now.
Getting your game noticed
TipsPublishing your game is only the first step. The badges players can earn give a clear picture of what the community rewards: reaching 100 visits earns Homestead, 1,000 visits earns Bricksmith, and landing on the featured list earns Esteemed Architect. Each of those is a concrete target you can work toward.
- Invite friends directly when your game goes live — early visits are the hardest to get.
- Keep your game free of parts that crash the server, since RetroStudio's rules ban them and a crashing game loses visitors fast.
- Avoid making a game whose only job is to send players somewhere else — teleport-only hubs break the rules, though multi-level places are fine.
Rules, codes, and community features

Common questions
FAQCan I earn Retrobux without spending real money?
Yes. You get Retrobux by logging in daily, by other players visiting your published game (1 Retrobux per visit, not counting your own), and by redeeming promo codes. Retro Club doubles your daily bonus if you have it, but it is not required.
What happens if my game gets a lot of visits?
At 100 visits you earn the Homestead badge, and at 1,000 visits you earn Bricksmith. If your game gets featured by the RetroStudio team, you also receive the Esteemed Architect badge. Each visit from another player also adds 1 Retrobux to your balance.
Are there things I'm not allowed to build?
RetroStudio's rules ban games that deliberately crash the server or client, games whose only purpose is to teleport players to another game, and anything with inappropriate content. Multi-level places and hubs that do more than just teleport are allowed. Breaking these rules can result in a ban.
My avatar looks different from my normal Roblox character — is that a bug?
That's intentional. RetroStudio uses its own separate avatar system, so your look inside the game is independent of your main Roblox character. You customize it through the Avatar section using items from the Catalog.
