Basic controls before your first shot
Step
When you load in, check the on-screen control layout so you know where everything is. The core loop is simple: raise your power, then release the ball. Spend a few shots just watching how the power level changes where the ball lands.
- Raise power hold R1 on PlayStation or RB on Xbox to fill the power gauge.
- Fine-tune power tap L1/LB to bring the gauge back down if you overshoot your target level.
- Release the ball press R2/RT to shoot once your power is where you want it.
- Jump press A to get off the ground.
- Repeat take several practice shots to build a feel for how power level affects distance and arc.
Expanding your shot options

Once basic shooting feels comfortable, add these tools to your game. Each one opens a different angle or approach that defenders have to account for.
- Press L2/LT to switch between your right and left hand, changing the shooting angle.
- Use Y to dunk when you are close to the basket.
- Press L3 (click the left stick) to toggle shift-lock.
- Press R3 (click the right stick) to zoom in or out.

Check
When you are on a losing streak, run through these checks between rounds.
- Is your opponent defending the same side every time? Switch to the opposite route button.
- Is your power gauge landing in a different spot each shot? Use L1/LB to bring it back down and dial it in more carefully.
- Are you shooting with the same hand every attempt? Hit L2/LT to switch and break the pattern.
- Are you watching your opponent move before you shoot? Use R3 to zoom out and track their position.
