Imposters & Roles is a social deduction game on Roblox inspired by Among Us, where every round you are randomly assigned one of 60 roles — Crewmate, Alien Imposter, or Neutral — and your goal shifts completely depending on which one you get. This guide walks you through each role, how to win as each one, and how to read other players well enough to come out on top.
In shortKnowing your role the moment the round starts is the single most important thing you can do.
Every round, the game assigns you one of three sides. Crewmates win by identifying and voting out all the Alien Imposters before they are outnumbered. Imposters win by cutting the Crewmate count down until they hold the numbers advantage. Neutrals belong to neither side and chase a goal that is unique to their specific role — sometimes eliminating a particular player, sometimes something else entirely. Read your role card the instant it appears so you know which of these three paths is yours.
Crewmate
expose and vote out the Alien Imposters
Alien Imposter
hunt Crewmates until you outnumber them
Neutral
achieve the private objective tied to your specific role
In shortCrewmates win through shared information and disciplined voting, not through individual heroics.
Crewmates are the majority at the start of every round, and that majority is your biggest weapon. Use it by staying connected to other players and pooling what everyone has seen. A Crewmate who completes tasks and reports observations in meetings is far more valuable than one who wanders alone. The badge Speaker of Truth unlocks after 25 Crewmate wins, so consistent play in this role does pay off over time.
Tips worth knowing
Read your task list right away and work through your assigned jobs
Watch where other players go and take note of anyone who appears near a task panel but never actually does anything
In meetings, explain what you saw in plain terms before calling a vote — evidence is more convincing than accusation
Stay calm in meetings and base your vote on facts rather than gut feeling

In shortImposters win by killing efficiently and staying above suspicion in every meeting.
Playing Imposter is harder to learn but very rewarding once it clicks. Your core loop is simple: find a Crewmate alone, make the kill, then blend back into the group before anyone notices. The challenge is the cooldown after each kill — during that window you cannot attack, so you need to look like a normal Crewmate. The badge Blood Seeker unlocks after 25 Imposter wins, which gives you a long-term target to chase.
After a kill, move away from the scene immediately and position yourself near other players before the body is found
During the kill cooldown, stand near task panels as though you are working
In meetings, redirect suspicion toward a Crewmate by pointing out something plausible about their movements
If there are multiple Imposters in the round, coordinate your stories before meetings so your alibis do not contradict each other
05
Playing a Neutral role
Tips
In shortNeutral players must always keep their private objective front of mind, because neither Crewmates nor Imposters are fighting for the same thing you are.
Neutral roles come with their own win conditions separate from both teams. Because you are not aligned with either side, you can sometimes use the chaos between Crewmates and Imposters to advance your own agenda without drawing attention.
Tips worth knowing
Check your role card carefully at the start of the round — your goal is not the same as anyone else's
Let the Crewmate-versus-Imposter conflict play out around you and act when it creates an opening for your objective
Avoid drawing attention to yourself in meetings unless it directly helps you reach your goal
06
Spotting an Imposter early
Check
In shortCatching an Imposter comes down to noticing small inconsistencies and raising them clearly in meetings.
You do not need to be certain before you speak — you need to share what you observed and let the group decide. The more players contribute real observations, the harder it is for an Imposter to maintain a false story. Watch behavior between meetings as carefully as you listen during them.
After a kill is reported, think about who was in that area and who claims they were somewhere else
Listen for stories that contradict each othertwo players cannot both be in the same place at the same time if one of them is lying
Be cautious around a player who pushes hard for a vote without offering any real evidence for why
A player who acts a little too perfectly normal can stand out just as much as one who acts strangely
In shortMost losing streaks trace back to one of a handful of fixable habits.
If you are stuck in a run of losses, go through this list before your next game. Small adjustments to how you read your role, navigate the map, and speak in meetings account for the majority of improvement in this game.
Did you re-read your role card at the start of the round, or did you skip it?
Do you know all the rooms and routes on the map you are playing?
In meetings, are you presenting specific observations or just guessing?
As a Crewmate, are you finishing your tasks or spending most of the round following other players?
As an Imposter, did you plan an escape route before making a kill?

Maps, badges, and extras worth knowing
Summary
In shortThere are a handful of game-wide features that affect every role and every session.
The game runs across three maps — Big Skeld, Nova Corp Cruise, and Polus — and each one has its own layout, so the routes and hiding spots you learn on one do not transfer automatically to another. There are also four badges the game tracks over time, rewarding consistent play in both main roles. Ranked servers are available for competitive play and are open to everyone. Kill animations are purely cosmetic and have no effect on how the game plays.

Common questions
FAQ
Do I need to spend Robux to enjoy this game?
The core game is fully free to play, including Ranked servers. Premium membership adds perks like tickets in the AFK farm and doubled farm rewards, but nothing about the main gameplay requires a purchase.
Which map should a new player start with?
The game offers three maps — Big Skeld, Nova Corp Cruise, and Polus. Pick one and play it repeatedly until you know the layout by heart before moving to the others.
Is there any point in joining the game's group?
Joining the group gives you a member code and lets you receive updates and suggest new roles.
Can I play this alone?
The game is built entirely around multiple players competing against each other, so there is no solo mode. You need other people in the lobby for a round to start.
Do kill animations change how the game works?
No — over a hundred kill animations are available, but they are purely cosmetic. Choosing one does not affect your speed, cooldown, or any other part of gameplay.
