The four Hollow evolution stages
StepHollow characters pass through four forms before reaching the endgame. Each step has a clear requirement, so know what you need before you start grinding.
- Fishbone to Menos reach level 7 while still in Fishbone form
- Menos to Adjuchas complete the quest Primal Urges pt.1 by defeating 8 Hollows and destroying 60 objects
- Adjuchas to Vasto Lorde complete Primal Urges pt.2 by collecting 70 points, earning 10 points for each player you defeat in PvP
- Vasto Lorde reached your fourth trait slot opens; fill it with the traits you want before doing anything else
- Remove your mask only after securing your traits, press L on PC to become an Arrancar
When not to remove your mask
WarnPressing L removes your mask and transforms you into an Arrancar, but timing this wrong has lasting consequences. If you remove your mask at the Menos or Adjuchas stage, you are locked into three trait slots instead of four for the rest of that character's life. Your Resurrection weapon, which becomes available at level 25, also unlocks later as a result. Wait until you have reached Vasto Lorde and stocked the traits you want.

Collecting Whispers to unlock Resurrection
StepOnce you are an Arrancar or Vasto Arrancar and have reached level 25, you can start building toward Resurrection by collecting Whispers. After landing somewhere between 30 and 50 attacks the screen darkens and text appears — that is your cue to press L and meditate. Each meditation session develops your inner world further, and eventually you encounter your Vasto Lorde self, which triggers the Resurrection Fight.
- Lower your damage talk to the NPC in Nebuki Village, accept the quest, then press H to set your damage to 25 percent
- Go to the right side of Marsh Falls the turtles gathered there are your target
- Use a regular sword a standard blade deals less damage per hit than a Resurrection weapon, letting you attack more times before a kill
- Watch for the dark screen when it appears, press L immediately to meditate and advance your inner world
- Track progress by your inner world each time buildings appear or increase, you are moving forward
Surviving the Resurrection Fight
TipsThe Resurrection Fight mirrors your own Hollow journey, running through three phases that match Fishbone, Menos, and Adjuchas. There is no healing at any point, so every hit you take is permanent for the duration. Equip your weapon before any cutscene ends, because combat starts the instant it finishes. Skills are mostly ineffective here — normal attacks get the job done faster.
- Equip your weapon before the cutscene ends so you are ready to block at the first frame of combat
- In phase one, if you chose Gorilla or Turtle, your sword swings faster than the Hollow's — attack the moment it raises its arm to stun-lock it
- In phase two, hit four times while the Cero beam charges, then two more times, parry the stomp, and repeat; dash away the instant an AOE appears
- In phase three use the same rhythm as phase one, but dodge the Cero instead of trading hits and circle behind for two or three strikes
- Keep backstepping throughout — standing still lets the Hollow punch through your block
Building your trait collection
CheckTraits are buffs and debuffs that attach to your character, but they only activate while you are in Resurrection form. Hollows can drop them starting from level 5, which means you do not have to wait for Arrancar to begin building your set.
- Traits drop from Hollows once you reach level 5
- Traits have no effect outside of Resurrection form
- Vasto Lorde unlocks the fourth trait slot, so plan which trait fills it before removing your mask
- The Spirit Charm Giant Fighter can be useful during the Resurrection Fight if you are confident with parrying

Common questions
FAQCan I play as something other than a Hollow?
Yes — you choose from three factions at the start: Shinigami, Quincy, or Hollow. The detailed progression steps covered in this guide apply specifically to the Hollow path.
What happens if I removed my mask too early?
Your trait slots are permanently limited to three instead of four, and your Resurrection weapon unlocks later than it would have otherwise.
Can I reach Resurrection without spending Robux?
All of the steps involved — leveling, questing, collecting Whispers, and farming traits — are part of normal gameplay and require no purchases.
Why use a regular sword instead of a Resurrection weapon for Whisper farming?
Whispers count the number of attacks you land, not the damage each hit deals. A regular sword does less damage per swing, which means the turtle you are farming survives longer and you land more hits before it dies.
