Slayer Tycoon — Basic controls
About
OverviewSlayer Tycoon is a two-player combat game on Roblox inspired by Demon Slayer, where you fight opponents using katanas and special arts. Despite the 'Tycoon' name, the focus is entirely on battle — you win by out-damaging or defeating your opponent. This guide covers controls, choosing your katana and art, fighting bosses, and advanced movement tricks to help you get further.

Basic controls
CheckEvery action in the game runs through a small set of keys. The game does not save between sessions, so you start fresh each time — knowing your controls from the beginning matters. Xbox players use the Y button to roll and the DPad for abilities.
- Q (Y on Xbox) Roll to dodge incoming attacks.
- E, R, T, Y, U (DPad on Xbox) Fire your katana and art abilities; each key maps to a different skill.
- M1 / LMB Basic melee attack.
Katana and art choices for new players
TableEvery katana purchase from the Breathing Sensei requires one Nichirin Ore, one Wood, and the listed cash amount. Arts are bought separately from the Art Sensei. Both sets of prices below are in-game currency.
| Katana of the Beast ($32,000) | Has a Spatial Awareness Y-skill to track players and mobs across the map; weaker in PvP due to slow wind-ups. |
| Katana of Insect ($25,000) | Cheapest upgraded katana available. |
| Biwa Art ($38,000) | Has a 30-damage move and can be awakened later. |
| Dream Art ($22,000) | Stun-focused; both moves have short cooldowns and long stuns, though it deals little damage on its own. |
| Blindfold Art ($12,000) | Cheapest art in the game; support-only with almost no attack power. |
| Biwa Art: Master (requires $65,000 + $38,000 base art + 1 Strong Soul + Awakening gamepass) | Adds I-frames and a large defensive area. |
Earning currency — demon bosses
StepSix demon bosses roam the map and respawn roughly 20 to 30 minutes after each one is defeated. They drop Big Money Bags and Nichirin Ore, and killing them is required to collect Strong Souls, which are required to awaken arts. Obi Demon and Sickle Demon always appear together.
- Biwa Demon is the weakest boss, then Sickle Demon, Obi Demon, String Demon, and Shockwave Demon is the toughest.
- Use ranged moves on most bosses walking just outside their reach and throwing ranged skills works on every boss except Shockwave Demon.
- Stock around 20 Udons before fighting Shockwave Demon and eat while running because of his higher speed.
- Bosses drop Big Money Bags and Nichirin Ore in varying amounts; Shockwave, Biwa, and String Demon drop 6 each, while Obi and Sickle Demon drop 3 each.
- Strong Souls from bosses are required to awaken any art.
Combat fundamentals
TipsArt abilities hit harder than basic attacks but carry cooldowns that leave you exposed if misused.
- Beast Katana users: equip the Boar Head accessory, which you get by killing boars in the wild, for a 10% boost to skill damage.
- Bursting Blood Art combos work best when you open with R (Kick Burst) into E (Line Burst), since the slight knockback delay makes them connect cleanly.
- Dream Art users can chain Trance (E) into Hypnosis Eyes (R) repeatedly, because the stun duration outlasts the cooldowns.
- Demon Sickle Art's Rampage move grants full invincibility for 6 to 7 seconds.
- Finisher moves (U on most arts) only trigger when the target is below 25% health.
Advanced movement techniques
StepNone of these are official features — they come from how Roblox's physics engine handles dash animations. They take practice to land reliably, but each one solves a specific problem in a fight.
- Golden Dash Press Q to dash, then immediately click M1 or throw a non-locking melee attack in the very first frames of the dash animation; your attack hitbox stretches the full dash distance and deals damage to anyone you pass through.
- Side Dash While running toward an enemy, flick your camera 90 degrees sideways or 180 degrees backward, press Q instantly, then snap the camera back the moment the dash ends; the enemy sees you vanish sideways instead of dashing straight at them. Setting Roblox Camera Sensitivity to 1.6 makes the flick fast enough to work.
- Fake Movement Dash toward the opponent with Q, then at the very last frame of the dash cast a move that locks your position (such as the String Art T skill); your hitbox fires forward and hits the enemy while your character snaps back to where you started the dash.
- Air Dash Press Q and jump at the same moment from a specific distance away from the enemy; if the distance is right, the momentum carries you over their head, disorienting them and baiting out their cooldowns in the wrong direction.
Clothes Merchant and rare accessories
WarnThe Clothes Merchant NPC is located on the opposite side of the map from the Lumberjack NPC. The Boar Head is not won at the Merchant — it drops from killing boars in the wild and directly buffs Beast Katana skill damage by 10%.
