How the game works

Summary
In short Everything in Factory Simulator follows the same loop: gather raw resources, refine them into more valuable items, sell those items, and spend the money to unlock the next tier.

You start with basic trees and rocks, process them through machines, and sell the output in the Sell Zone. As your cash grows you unlock higher tiers, each of which opens new resources and more powerful machines. Quests guide you through each tier and reward you with mines and farms that would otherwise take a long time to afford on their own.

  • Gather collect raw resources by hand or with automated farms and mines
  • Refine run resources through machines to raise their sell value
  • Sell move finished items to the Sell Zone for cash
  • Reinvest spend cash on new machines, farms, and tier unlocks
  • Quest follow the quest list to earn free mines and farms as you go
  • Tier up each new tier unlocks a fresh set of resources and machines

Getting started: Tier 0 and Tier 1

Step
In short Finishing the tutorial quests and reaching Tier 1 sets you up for steady early income.

Tier 0 is where every player begins. Wood and Stone are the only raw materials, and the T1 Press is the strongest machine available at this stage. Tier 1 costs $3,000 to unlock and adds Sand and Copper Ore. The quests at these tiers reward you with free Tree Farms and Stone Farms.

  1. Chop trees and mine rocks complete the first two quests to earn $150 each plus a free farm
  2. Buy a T1 Cutter and T1 Press each quest pays $750 toward your next purchase
  3. Buy a Basic Tree Farm the quest reward includes a second free farm
  4. Save to $3,000 pay the Tier 1 unlock cost to access Sand and Copper Ore
  5. Mine 10 Copper Rocks the Tier 1 quest rewards $500 and a free Copper Mine
  6. Buy a T1 Furnace then a T1 Extruder these machines let you produce Copper Wire, the most valuable Tier 1 item

Table
In short Each tier costs significantly more than the last, but the best machine at each stage processes your new resources into items worth far more than anything from the tier below.

Use this table to plan how much cash to save before committing to a tier unlock. The best machine column tells you what to work toward once you arrive.

Using quests to get ahead

Tips
In short Quests are the fastest way to acquire mines and farms without paying full shop price, so treat them as your primary to-do list at every tier.

Quests appear in the top-right corner of your screen. Each tier has its own quest chain, and completing them in sequence gives you free mines and farms. Skipping quests and buying machines directly means you miss those free production buildings.

Tips worth knowing
  • Check the quest list before spending cash — many quests reward a free mine worth more than the purchase itself
  • Mining quests only count if the target ore type appears on your active quest list
  • At Tier 7 there is a known mining quest that only needs 50 Coral to complete despite showing 100 — stop at 50

Building an efficient factory layout

Tips
In short Keeping resources moving from harvest to sale without bottlenecks is what separates a fast-growing factory from a stalled one.

Items can be carried by hand (up to 15 at a time), moved on Conveyor Belts, or stored in Containers. Machines refine raw resources into finished goods, and everything sellable goes to the Sell Zone.

Tips worth knowing
  • Use Conveyor Belts to move items automatically instead of carrying them by hand
  • Store overflow in Containers
  • Buy new farms and mines as soon as quest rewards give them to you, since automated collection beats manual harvesting at every tier
07

When progress stalls

Check
In short Almost every stall comes down to one of three things: not enough income, a machine bottleneck, or a quest step you missed.

If your cash balance has stopped growing or is growing too slowly to reach the next tier, work through this list one item at a time.

  • Confirm every farm and mine you own is actually running and producing items
  • Check that refined items are reaching the Sell Zone and not piling up in a container or on a belt
  • Redeem any available promo codes for a cash boost or speed boost
08

Promo codes

Warn
In short Each code can only be redeemed once, and most codes expire after a limited time, so use them as soon as you find them.

To redeem a code, go to the side of your base or find the Promo Code box in the Shop section and type the code there. Cash rewards from codes scale with your current factory tier. New codes are posted on the developers' Twitter account at @teamgamingglove.

Worth watching out for
Each code works only once per account entering it a second time does nothing
Cash codes scale with your factory tier a code redeemed at a higher tier pays out more than the same code redeemed early
Speed boost and crate codes do not scale
09 Working codes Codes

warpspeed 2x walkspeed

Every code, and the votes on it, are on the codes page

Common questions

FAQ

Do quests have to be done in a specific order?

Mining quests only count toward completion if that ore type is currently listed as your active quest target. Completing quests on a resource that is not on your list will not register progress, so check the quest panel before you start mining.
