Getting started as a new player

Step
In short The first session is all about learning the menu, picking up a quest, and landing your first kills.

When you first load in, you earn the Initiate badge just for entering the world. From there, the goal is simple: talk to NPCs, get quests, fight enemies, and repeat. If you chose Hollow, you level up by eating enemies rather than just defeating them.

  1. Open the Menu press M on keyboard or push the left joystick down on a controller to see your skills and quests.
  2. Talk to NPCs find quest-givers in the world and accept a quest before you start grinding enemies.
  3. Fight smart use light attacks (M1) to pressure enemies and heavy attacks (M2) for bigger hits.
  4. Eat if you are Hollow Hollow characters level up by eating enemies, so do not just kill and move on.
  5. Check your inventory after any fight, open the menu to see what skills you have equipped.
03

Skill points and the skill tree

Tips
In short Every level gives you a skill point, and spending those points wisely is the main way you become stronger.

You earn one skill point each time you level up. Open the skill tree from the menu and spend each point on new skills or passives.

Tips worth knowing
  • You receive exactly one skill point per level, so every level-up is a decision to make.
  • After you unlock a skill, go into your inventory and equip it — it does not activate on its own.
  • Some skills have requirements such as a minimum level or a Reiatsu cost, so check the details in your inventory before expecting one to work.
04

Combat depth: block, dash, charge, and transform

Tips
In short Using all four combat tools together is what separates players who win from players who just spam attacks.

Light and heavy attacks alone will only get you so far. The real edge comes from weaving defensive and charge mechanics into every fight.

Tips worth knowing
  • Block (F or B) incoming attacks to create an opening for your own counter.
  • Dash (Q or RT) away from heavy enemy moves rather than trying to tank them.
  • Charging Reiatsu (V or Y) fills a gauge that makes many of your skills hit harder.
  • Use Lock-On (LB + RB on controller) to keep a moving enemy in your sights.
  • Transformation (G / D-Pad) is your mid-fight power boost; Bankai (H / D-Pad) is your strongest form.
05

Leveling milestones worth aiming for

Check
In short Three clear targets keep you focused as you grind: level 100, your first prestige, and beating a world boss with other players.

The badge system shows exactly what the game considers meaningful progress.

  • Reach level 100 this earns the Captain Class badge.
  • Prestige for the first time the Reborn badge unlocks once you reset through the prestige system.
  • Help defeat the Pumpkin Hell Guardian this co-op boss rewards the Pumpkin Slayer badge.
  • Collect 5 emotes from the emote spin the Dance Floor badge comes from this.
06

When you are stuck or outmatched

Check
In short Almost every wall in Reaper 2 comes down to level, passive investment, or not using the full combat toolkit.

If an enemy or area feels impossible, run through this list before giving up.

  • Check your level if you are well below the enemy's difficulty, switch to an easier quest and farm experience first.
  • Look at your passive skills picking up passives in the skill tree makes a difference even without new active skills.
  • Review your equipped skills open your inventory and make sure the skills you have active match the fight you are in.
  • Practice the defensive controls if you are not blocking and dashing consistently, you are taking far more damage than you need to.
  • Try co-op harder world bosses like the Pumpkin Hell Guardian are designed to be fought with other players.

Free-to-play tips and redeem codes

Tips
In short The entire skill tree and quest system is available without spending anything, and redeem codes add free rewards on top.

Every part of the core progression loop — quests, skill points, the skill tree — works the same whether you pay or not. Codes are an extra layer of free rewards that any player can use.

Tips worth knowing
  • All skill tree features are open to every player.
  • Redeem codes give free in-game rewards; enter them through the code input screen found in the menu.
  • Each code can only be used once per account, so make sure you are on the right account before you type one in.
  • Codes can expire, so use any code you find as soon as possible.
  • A new code is tied to reaching 164k likes on the game page.

FAQ

Why am I not gaining experience even though I am killing enemies?

Killing enemies and completing quests are two separate things. Open the menu and check your active quests. Accept a quest from an NPC first, then go fight.

Some skills have requirements, such as a minimum level or a Reiatsu cost. Open your inventory and read the skill's details to see what it needs. Once you meet the conditions, it will work normally.

Can I fight other players?
