At the start of each round, the game randomly assigns you one of three roles. Your entire strategy changes based on which one you get, so knowing all three is important even before you play.

Playing as the Innocent
Tips
Your only job is to clear the tower and survive. You cannot fight back, so running and thinking ahead are what keep you alive.
- Learn the tower's layout as fast as you can — knowing what comes next lets you move without hesitating
- Stick with other Innocents when you can, since the Murderer has to split their attention across more targets
- If the Murderer spots you, keep moving toward the exit rather than looking for somewhere to hide
Playing as the Murderer
Tips
You have a weapon and can move freely through the whole tower.
- Wait in narrow corridors and tight corners where Innocents have to pass through
- Figure out which routes most Innocents use and set up there
- Keep an eye out for the Sheriff

- Roles are random every round you cannot choose which one you get
- If a friend is assigned Murderer, they will still come after you as an Innocent
- Liking the game and joining the group unlocks exclusive Gears according to the game page
