Starting out: the tutorial
Step
When you enter the game for the first time, a tutorial walks you through the basics. Completing it earns the Tutorial Complete! badge and unlocks your full castle-defending journey.
- Work through the tutorial when it appears.
- Finish the tutorial once complete, the rest of the game opens up.

Core gameplay loop
Summary
Enemies attack your castle in waves. Defeating them drops coins and gems, which you spend to build and upgrade defenses. A leaderboard tracks progress against other players, and up to five people can defend together in the same session.
- Defenses buildings or turrets you place to block and damage incoming enemies.
- Coins currency earned by defeating enemies, used to strengthen defenses.
- Gems a second resource also earned from enemies, also used for upgrades.
- Leaderboard a ranking that shows how your castle is holding up against other players.
- Co-op up to five players can share one session and defend together.
Two ways to upgrade a defense
Table
As waves escalate, your starting defenses will not keep up. The game gives you two distinct upgrade paths. Enchanting a defense for the first time earns the Enchant badge.

Visiting other players' islands
Check
The game lets you leave your own island and visit another player's. Making that trip earns the Traveller badge. If you have defenses you no longer need, selling them earns the Salesman badge.
- Travel to at least one other player's island to earn the Traveller badge.
- Sell any defense you no longer need to earn the Salesman badge.
- Eliminate 10,000 total enemies to earn the Exterminator badge.
Glossary
Glossary- Defense
- A building or turret you place on your island to block and damage enemies heading for your castle.
- Enchant
- An upgrade that adds a special effect to one of your defenses, making it more powerful.
- Merge
- An upgrade that combines two matching defenses into a single stronger one.
- Coins
- In-game currency earned by defeating enemies and spent on upgrades.
- Gems
- A second resource earned from enemies, also used for upgrading defenses.
- Wave
- A group of enemies that attacks your castle.
Common questions
FAQDo I need to spend real money to progress?
No. Coins and gems both drop from enemies you defeat. The game also runs a 2x Coins and 2x Gems event every weekend.
Can I play with friends?
Yes — up to five players can defend the same castle together in one session.
What is the fastest way to get the Exterminator badge?
The badge requires 10,000 total enemy eliminations.
