Rainbow Friends Guide: Your first thing to learn
About
OverviewRainbow Friends is a survival horror game on Roblox where your school field trip goes wrong and you end up trapped in a mysterious place called Odd World, hunted by colorful monsters. Each night you collect specific items and deliver them to the Theater while avoiding creatures that each need a completely different strategy to survive. This guide covers how to hide, how to handle every monster, and how to push through all five nights to escape.

Your first thing to learn: the box
StepThe cardboard box is your main tool for hiding from most monsters. On PC, press B to put it on. On mobile, tap the box icon on your screen. While you are wearing the box, monsters like Blue cannot spot you — but you move slower, so pick a safe moment before you crouch down. Practice this during night one, when only Blue is active, so the motion feels natural before things get harder.
- Learn the box press B on PC or tap the icon on mobile and drill it until it is automatic.
- Find the Theater locate the drop-off point early because every item you collect has to come back here.
- Use headphones Blue's laughter and Orange's siren sound carry warning before they reach you.
- Deliver often getting caught while holding a pile of items means dropping all of them at once.
- Bring a friend splitting up the map with a partner cuts the time you spend exposed.
Monster by monster: what actually works
TableThe monsters in Odd World share nothing in common except that they will end your run if you handle them wrong. Blue is the most straightforward, but the others punish players who rely on the same trick every time. Learn the color, learn the counter, and switch the moment you identify who is coming.
| Blue (giant blue creature) | hide under the box the instant he enters your line of sight; the exclamation mark above your head means he has already seen you. |
| Green (blind monster) | box does nothing; freeze completely and wait for Green to walk past. |
| Orange (lizard type) | step away from any orange lines or flames on the floor immediately; feeding Orange can hold him off. |
| Purple (vent hands) | avoid puddles near vent exits at all costs because that is where Purple grabs from. |
| Yellow (winged, Chapter 2) | use the box when spotted; landing on a trampoline after being caught can save you. |
| Cyan (large jaw, Chapter 2) | stay still under the box whenever Cyan stops to look around. |
Nights one through three: what changes each night
StepChapter 1 runs for five nights and adds new threats as you go. Night one is your safest window to get comfortable with the map layout because Blue is the only monster active. Night two adds Green, and the freeze strategy replaces the box in any corridor where Green is present. By night three, Orange and Purple are both in the mix, and you have to watch the floor as well as the hallways.
- Night one (blocks) use Blue's patrol to map the corridors and practice box timing without pressure.
- Night two (food packs) stand completely still whenever Green is in the same corridor; motion is what gets you caught.
- Night three (fuses) leave any room where orange lines appear on the floor, and give vent puddles a wide berth.
- Use lockers cabinets and vents scattered around the map work as hiding spots just like the box does.
- Small deliveries dropping off one or two items at a time keeps your losses small if something goes wrong.
Nights four and five: the endgame
TipsNight four cuts your visibility sharply when the power goes out, so you are navigating mostly by sound and the narrow beam of your flashlight. Night five drops the item-collecting format entirely and swaps in events like balloon popping and cake carrying before triggering a final chase sequence. Staying calm in the chase matters more than speed, and players who have already memorized the map layout will find the exit route much faster.
- Move slowly through night four and listen for footsteps rather than trying to rush deliveries.
- Complete night five's events without panicking — mistakes pile up fast when you are hurrying.
- Use map knowledge from nights one through three to pick your escape route during the final chase.
- Coordinate with friends so one person can draw attention while another pushes through an event.
Common reasons players keep getting caught
CheckIf the same night keeps ending the same way, the issue is usually a readable pattern rather than bad luck. Run through this list before blaming the monster.
- Are you playing without headphones? Monster sounds are your earliest warning, and missing them is a serious disadvantage.
- Are you using the box against Green? Green cannot see but can hear, so the box does not protect you from him at all.
- Are you collecting too many items before returning? Every extra item you carry raises the cost of a single mistake.
- Are you stepping in vent puddles? Those puddles mark exactly where Purple's hands can reach you.
- Are you ignoring lockers and vents as hiding spots? The box is not your only option when a monster is close.

- Skins and cosmetics paid, but carry no gameplay advantage.

Common questions
FAQIf I get caught, is my run over completely?
Being caught puts you into spectate mode for that round, so you can no longer act. Spending Robux gives you the option to revive on the spot. If your friends are still active and push through, you move with them into whatever comes next.
Green keeps catching me no matter what I do. What is going wrong?
Green cannot see anything, which means the box is useless against him — he hears movement instead. The only counter is to stop moving entirely and wait for Green to pass. Even a small step while he is nearby is enough for him to detect you, so hold still and breathe through it.
Do I have to finish Chapter 1 before I can play Chapter 2?
No. You can select Chapter 2 directly from the lobby screen without clearing Chapter 1 first. If a friend is already in Chapter 2, you can join them straight away through the Roblox friends list.
How do I join the same server as a friend?
Open your Roblox friends list, find your friend's Rainbow Friends session, and press Join. Alternatively, coordinate a time to enter the game together so the matchmaker places you in the same server.
