Choosing your path at the start
TableWhen you load into Project 12 you choose between two roles, and each one has a completely different loop. Police officers work toward climbing through the ranks, while civilians focus on earning cash and building a reputation. Neither path costs anything to progress through.
| Police officer | patrol the city, respond to emergencies, chase suspects, and make arrests to rise through the ranks |
| Civilian | find jobs around the city, earn cash, and make a name for yourself on your own terms |
The police officer loop
StepThe officer role is built around a repeating cycle. You patrol until something happens, then respond and close the case with an arrest. Sticking to this loop is what pushes your rank higher. You can also switch to a first-person body cam view while working the police job.
- Hit the streets patrol the city and wait for an emergency to come in
- Get to the scene head to the location and spot the suspect
- Give chase track down the suspect as they try to get away
- Make the arrest bring them in to earn a rank increase
The civilian loop
StepAs a civilian, the city is full of jobs waiting to be picked up. You earn cash by completing them, and that cash feeds into your growing reputation. What you do with the money — and whether you stay on the right side of the law — is entirely your call.
- Search the city find available jobs spread around the map
- Do the work complete jobs to collect your cash payout
- Stack your earnings accumulate cash to raise your reputation
- Set your own rules decide whether to play it straight or take your chances breaking the law
The body cam feature
TipsThe body cam was added in an update and is exclusive to the police job. It lets you drop into first-person perspective.
- The body cam is only available when you are playing as a police officer
- Switching to it puts you in full first-person view of the city
