Controls and first settings to change
StepThe game supports both mouse-and-keyboard and controller, so pick whichever you already know. Before you fight anything, open Settings with P or D-pad Left and adjust your sensitivity until aiming feels natural. The knife is bound to V or the right joystick button and is best saved as a last resort when you run dry.
- Open Settings press P on keyboard or D-pad Left on controller and tune your sensitivity first.
- Learn the aim toggle Q, Right Click, or LB puts you into aimed mode; get this into muscle memory early.
- Practice weapon switching tap 1, 2, or 3, or scroll the wheel, so you never fumble mid-wave.
- Reload with R or Btn X between enemy groups.
- Use Slide to escape C, Left Control, or Btn B lets you duck and move fast when zombies crowd you.
- Check the leaderboard Tab or D-pad Right shows how your team is doing without stopping play.
Earning and spending money early
TipsYou start each match with limited cash, so the first few rounds are all about farming. Once you have enough saved, buy and upgrade weapons rather than sitting on the cash. Higher difficulty levels make enemies tougher but also increase the money and experience they give when you defeat them.
- Start on an easier map to build funds before attempting harder ones.
- Use ammo attachments added in version 2.1.0 to tailor each weapon to your playstyle.
Co-op roles and keeping each other alive
TableWhen playing with others, coordinate through chat or voice so no one is left guessing where the threat is. Reviving a downed teammate who has a raygun is especially worth the risk — losing that firepower hurts the whole team.
| Damage role | carries high-firepower weapons and focuses on thinning the horde. |
| Support role | watches teammates' health and moves to revive downed players quickly. |
| Weapon variety | no two players should carry identical loadouts; gaps in coverage cost lives. |
The PHD Crashout perk
SummaryPHD Crashout was added in version 2.1.0. It removes all self-damage from explosives and lets you perform an explosive area attack by crouching while in the air. That combination means grenades and rocket-type weapons become reliable tools rather than self-destruct risks.
- Explosive immunity no self-damage from grenades or any other explosive weapon.
- Crouching mid-air triggers an explosive burst that hits everything close to you on landing.
- Best situation large groups of zombies clustered in a tight area.
Map goals and notable challenges
CheckBeyond simply surviving waves, several maps ask you to do specific things to get the most out of them. Knowing what a map demands before you load in stops you from being caught off guard.
- On Der Riese, surviving until Round 15 from Round 1 without flipping the power switch earns the Midnight Giant badge.
- Escape Lighthouse the Lighthouse map has an escape condition rather than an endless survival loop.
- Pack-A-Punch five weapons in one match this requires sustained cash farming and planning throughout the run.
- Escape Michaelbarrel after capturing Wintiachel the Michaelbarrel map has a full boss sequence with multiple phases to clear first.
- Find hidden stashes version 2.1.0 added easter eggs in certain maps; explore during quieter moments between waves.
- Check Joe's Gun Game this mode adds landmines to the map, so watch your step and disarm them when you can.
Snowfella boss fight on Michaelbarrel
StepMichaelbarrel is the only map where the Snowfella boss appears. The fight runs across two phases, each with its own badge. Panzer Michael also appears on this map and can grab you; shooting his grapple arm while you are in his grip is your only way out.
- Phase one deal enough damage to Snowfella to trigger the first phase end and earn the Why Everyone So Mean To Me? badge.
- Reflect the energy bullet when Snowfella fires his energy bullet attack, hit it back at him with a frying pan to land extra damage and earn Right Back At Ya!
- Phase two continue the fight after phase one ends and finish Snowfella off to earn Cold As Ice.
- Escape after the boss once you have captured Wintiachel and completed the fight, reach the exit to earn Frozen Plans.
- Panzer Michael grip if he grabs you, shoot his grapple arm immediately.
Private servers and event maps
SummaryThe base game is fully free to play — money you earn in matches pays for weapons and upgrades without spending Robux. Private servers go further by unlocking every previously released event map at any time and granting admin commands so you can set your own rules. The Hallows Eve 2024 event returned in version 2.1.0, adding Halloween-themed decoration to certain maps; in a private server you can load that content whenever you want rather than waiting for the seasonal window.
- Free play in-match cash funds all weapons and upgrades; no spending required.
- Event access private servers make every past event map available permanently.
- Admin commands private server owners can adjust rules for custom sessions.
- Hallows Eve 2024 available in version 2.1.0 with themed map decoration on select maps.

Common questions
FAQCan you play alone or do you need a full group?
Solo play is supported — the game can be played alone or with friends.
Does difficulty level affect how much money you earn?
Higher difficulty means tougher enemies, but they also give more money and experience when you defeat them.
Do controller players have any disadvantage?
The game maps every action to a controller button, so nothing is locked to keyboard only. Adjust your sensitivity in Settings before your first match so aiming feels comfortable on the joystick.
