About

Overview

Find the Needle! drops you in front of a pile of one million hay bales with a single goal: dig out the one needle hidden inside. You collect hay, sell it for money, spend that money on upgrades, and keep digging — this guide walks you through every part of that loop so you can find the needle without wasting time.

01

The basic loop before anything else

Step
In short Learning where the sell point and upgrade screen are in your first two trips matters more than finding the needle immediately.

Every round follows the same three actions: collect hay until your bag is full, carry it to the sell point for money, then spend that money on one upgrade before going back to dig. Trying to hunt for the needle straight away causes two problems — your bag fills up fast, and you can lose track of how to get back to the sell point. Settle the route in your head first, then focus on the needle.

  1. Approach the pile collect hay from the front until your bag is full
  2. Return to the sell point trade the hay for coins
  3. Pick one upgrade choose whichever single thing slowed you down most
  4. Go back to the same spot return to exactly where you stopped digging, not somewhere new

Choosing upgrades that actually help

Tips
In short Fix the one thing slowing you down most, test it for a short while, then decide whether to upgrade that same thing again or switch.

There are three core upgrades: Grab, Cooldown, and Bag. Each one fixes a different bottleneck, so spending coins on the wrong one wastes the trip. After every upgrade, dig for a little while and notice whether things feel faster before you spend again.

Tips worth knowing
  • If each grab only removes a tiny amount of hay, put your coins into Grab first
  • If the wait between grabs feels long, Cooldown is the better spend
  • If you are running back to sell too often, a bigger Bag helps
  • Upgrading Bag without touching Grab means a large bag that fills slowly — keep them roughly in step
  • Diamonds go toward movement speed if travel time is your biggest delay, or coin income if money is building too slowly
03

How to dig so the needle can't hide

Check
In short Pick one face of the pile, open a wide entrance rather than a narrow tunnel, and check every newly exposed surface before digging further.

The needle is small enough to miss if you rush. Punching many thin holes across the pile is the most common mistake — it leaves patches you never inspected and makes it impossible to track where you have already been. Instead, claim one outer face and work across it in broad layers. Every time you clear a large section, pause and look at the floor, both walls, and the ceiling before continuing.

  • Own one face of the pile and stay there across all your trips
  • Open a wide entrance rather than a deep narrow shaft
  • Peel back hay in broad horizontal layers or wide corridors
  • After every large clearance, check floor, left wall, right wall, and ceiling before digging on
  • When you return from selling, walk back into the same corridor never start a new hole
04

Camera angles that cut down on misses

Tips
In short A pulled-back camera lets you scan broadly; zoom in only when something looks like it could be the needle.

If the camera is too close, hay fills the entire screen and thin shapes get lost in the texture. Keep it pulled back during normal digging so you can see the full face you are working on. The moment something catches your eye, stop digging, move the camera to a second angle, and only then remove the hay around it carefully.

Tips worth knowing
  • Keep the camera pulled back while digging so the whole work area stays visible
  • After opening new space, look at it from above and from the side, not just straight on
  • When you spot something suspicious, stop collecting and change the camera angle before touching any more hay
05

The PILE number and getting unstuck

Summary
In short PILE shows how much hay you have removed, not how close the needle is — use it as a progress check, not a race target.

The PILE display on screen shows the percentage of hay cleared from the pile that round. It is useful for confirming you are making progress, but a high number does not mean the needle is nearby. If you dig down too deep and hay walls close around you, press U at the top of the screen to use the Unstuck feature and return to the entrance.

  • PILE percentage how much hay has been cleared, not the needle's distance
  • Periodic check every time PILE climbs noticeably, pause to inspect floor, walls, and ceiling
  • Unstuck button press U when you are buried and cannot move
  • Prevention widen upward or sideways rather than digging straight down to avoid getting trapped repeatedly
06

Void hay and diamonds

Tips
In short Check the outside of the pile for void hay before you start digging each trip, since it rewards far more diamonds than normal hay.

Some hay looks different from the standard bales — void hay is purple and harder to spot, but collecting it gives a large diamond reward. Diamonds fund a separate set of upgrades covering movement speed and coin income. Before diving into your corridor each trip, walk around the exposed surface of the pile to check whether any purple bales are visible.

Tips worth knowing
  • Walk the outer surface of the pile at the start of each trip to look for purple void hay
  • Spend diamonds on the upgrade that wastes the most of your time — focusing on one area feels faster than spreading diamonds thinly
  • Check the in-game screen for exact costs before committing diamonds to any upgrade
07

Things that hurt your run

Warn
In short Random digging, skipping surface checks, and outside tools are the three habits most likely to cost you the needle or your account.

Most failed runs come down to a handful of repeated mistakes rather than bad luck. If the needle is not showing up, review your digging pattern before assuming you need to dig faster or in more places. Keep your account safe by sticking to the game itself.

Worth watching out for
Do not scatter thin holes all over the pile you lose track of what you have checked
Do not move to a new digging spot after every sell trip continuity is what prevents you from skipping the needle's hiding spot
Do not ignore the floor and ceiling after a big clearance the needle can sit on any surface
Do not chase the PILE number as if it points to the needle it does not
Do not use outside automation tools or log in to unofficial pages claiming free items they put your account at risk

Void Hay
Rare purple hay that rewards significantly more diamonds than normal bales.

Common questions

FAQ

Do I have to clear 100% of the PILE to find the needle?

No. PILE shows the share of hay removed, not the needle's location. If you spot the needle at 40% cleared, carefully dig around it right then and win. There is no reason to keep clearing hay once the needle is visible.

I thought I saw the needle but now I can't find it — what do I do?

Stop digging immediately and move the camera back to the angle where you first noticed it. Remove the surrounding hay one small piece at a time, checking from above and from the side after each removal rather than clearing a large area at once.

Is Robux required to finish the game?

The collect-sell-upgrade cycle alone is enough to reach the needle without spending Robux. Paid shortcuts may appear in the game, but none are required. If you are a younger player thinking about spending Robux, check the amount and what it covers with a parent or guardian first.
