Getting started as a Gubby
StepWhen you first join, the game assigns you a random Gubby. If you want a classic-faced Gubby that feels more like your own character, there is a quick fix you can do from chat.
- Join the game you earn the 'You joined!' badge automatically on your first visit.
- Open chat and type /unfreak this switches you to a classic-faced Gubby instead of the random one you spawned as.
- Skip the rebirth button for now rebirthing is currently broken, so do not expect it to work until an update fixes it.

Hidden objects and the badges they unlock
TipsSeveral badges are tied to finding and touching particular objects scattered across the map. Some badge hints are written in cipher, so read them carefully.
- Touch the yellow block somewhere on the map to unlock Fake C4.
- Reach the top of the mountain to earn the Climbed the mountain! badge, which unlocks a Trophy.
- Find the rainbow Coconut and touch it to unlock the rainbow potion.
- Check the computer inside the house — it appears in one of the badge hints as a notable landmark.
- Four hidden badges are numbered #1 through #4 in their hints; the clues point to the green mountain, the black cave, the computer inside the house, and a rock near the towers respectively.
- The 'It was strewn across the living room' badge hints that a key item is hidden in that area of the map.
Points and the rebirth ladder
TableThere are two overlapping goals in Be a Gubby: building up a large point total and completing rebirths. The first and second rebirth badges are currently marked unobtainable, so the earliest rebirth badge you can earn right now is the third.
| 50,000 points held at once | unlocks the Gubby bag |
| Third rebirth | unlocks the Golden Trophy |
| Fourth rebirth | unlocks the Emerald Trophy |
| Fifth rebirth | unlocks the Diamond Trophy |
Reportable phrases and server rules
WarnThe game maintains a short list of phrases that are immediately reportable. Using them — or any term designed specifically to make other players uncomfortable — can result in a report to the official server and a ban.
The owner badge and event badges
CheckNot every badge is sitting on the map waiting for you. Two of them rely on circumstances outside your direct control.
- Met the owner! earned by running into the developer in-game.
- Happy Halloween! this badge was available only during the Halloween event that ran from October 1 to October 12 in 2025, and it is no longer obtainable.
- If you see a badge marked UNOBTAINABLE on the badge list, it cannot be earned in the current version of the game.

Common questions
FAQHow do I stop spawning as a random Gubby every time?
Type /unfreak in the chat as soon as you load in. This gives you a classic-faced Gubby rather than whichever random one the game picked.
Why can't I rebirth even after earning enough points?
Rebirthing is broken right now. There is nothing you can do on your end to fix it — wait for an update from the developers.
The badge hints look like garbled text. Are they supposed to be readable?
Yes, several hints are written in cipher. They are numbered #1 through #4, and each one encodes a map location.
Can I still get the Happy Halloween badge?
No. That badge was only available to players who were in the game between October 1 and October 12 in 2025. The event has ended and the badge is no longer earnable.
