Six controls worth learning first

Step
In short Getting these six keys into muscle memory before your first fight makes every match easier.

All six of the game's special controls can be remapped in the control section of settings, so if any default key feels awkward, change it early.

  1. Dash (E) press this when an attack is coming; you are temporarily immune to hits while dashing.
  2. Kick (Q) use this on a downed opponent to deal extra damage while they cannot fight back.
  3. Parry (F) time this against an incoming attack; depending on your option setting, it either stuns the attacker or heals you.
  4. Carry (Z) only works on downed players, so save it for that situation.
  5. Interact (R) use this on crates and other objects scattered around the map.
  6. Camera Lock (Control) fixes your camera direction.

How the beginner server works

Summary
In short The beginner server keeps new players away from experienced ones until they hit 30 kills.

The game sorts you automatically, so you do not need to pick a server type yourself.

  • Entry condition you are sent to the beginner server when you have fewer than 30 kills and no friend is already in the server.
  • Exit condition once your kill count reaches 30, you move to the normal servers.
  • Friend exception if a friend is in a server, you join them regardless of your kill count.

Map objects and special events

Tips
In short The map holds more than just enemies, so explore it and watch for seasonal events.

Knowing what exists helps you react when you run into it.

Tips worth knowing
  • There is a vending machine on the map where you can obtain items.
  • A flag objective exists: hold the flag for 10 minutes in a public server with 15 or more players to earn the Nos Militibus badge.
  • A character called Foofie the Frog can eat you, which is its own badge moment.
  • A Halloween event has appeared in the past, giving players a chance to become Billy during that period.
  • The shop recently added a new item called the Ballista, available in new servers.

Common questions

FAQ

When do I leave the beginner server?

You leave automatically once your kill count reaches 30. If a friend is already in a server before that point, you can join them there regardless of your kills.

Can I change the default controls?

Yes. Every special control can be remapped inside the control section of the settings menu.

How do I get the Nos Militibus badge?

Hold the flag for a full 10 minutes in a public server that has 15 or more players in it. Because of the player-count requirement, a private or low-population server will not count.
