Movement abilities worth knowing

Tips
In short Using the right move at the right moment keeps your stamina up during races and open runs.

The game carries over several moves from the mainline Sonic series. The Trick system in particular has a specific use case that many beginners miss.

Tips worth knowing
  • The Spindash, Stompdash, Boost, and Homing Attack are all available to use while running.
  • Equip a Hoverboard and press Jump while airborne to perform a Trick.
  • Hitting the Trick button several times off a spring fills your Stamina Bar quickly.
  • A full Stamina Bar means you can Boost without running out, which matters in races.

Chao and XP multipliers

Check
In short Equipping Chao raises the amount of XP and Rings you earn per run.

Chao are collectibles you buy from Vending Machines using Rings. You can equip up to three at a time, or up to five if you have the +2 Pet Slots Gamepass. Each one you slot in raises the amount of XP and Rings you earn per run.

  • Have you visited the Vending Machines scattered through each world to spend your Rings?
  • Do you have up to three Chao equipped at once to increase your XP and Ring income?
  • Have you completed quests or events in each world, since those hand out characters and items?
  • If you have the +2 Pet Slots Gamepass, are all five Chao slots filled?

Common questions

FAQ

How do I level up faster?

Run as much as possible, since every step earns Chaos Orbs. Equipping Chao increases how many Chaos Orbs and Rings you earn per run.

What do I do after I hit the maximum level?

You can Rebirth, which resets your level but raises the level cap and increases your XP multiplier permanently.

How do Tricks help me in races?

Pressing the Trick button while airborne on a Hoverboard fills your Stamina Bar. A higher Stamina Bar means you can Boost for longer, which is useful in races.

Running, leveling, unlocking worlds, and collecting Chao from Vending Machines all work without any purchases. The +2 Pet Slots Gamepass adds two extra Chao slots, but three slots are available to everyone.

What is the point of collecting Rings?

Rings are the in-game currency you use at Vending Machines to buy Chao and Trails.
