Your first steps in the game
StepThe game drops you in with nothing until you claim your first grimoire, so do that before anything else. Your first spin is free and pulls from Fire, Water, or Wind. Once you have your book, find the nearby quest giver and check the quest carefully — it tells you the exact enemy name and how many you need to kill. Killing random nearby enemies does not always count, so confirm the kill counter ticks up after your first kill before continuing. Open the Stats screen and spend any unspent level-up points right away.
- Claim grimoire your first spin is free and lands on Fire, Water, or Wind.
- Talk to the quest giver read the enemy name and kill count on the quest before you start fighting.
- Test one kill check that the counter goes up, then keep going.
- Open Stats spend every unspent point before leaving the starting area.
- Reach Book Level 10 this unlocks a new spell slot in the grimoire you already have.
- Reach Book Level 20 another spell slot opens; no second spin needed.
Combat controls and basics
TipsCombat in Clover Legends uses three distinct actions you should learn separately before trying to chain them together. Your normal attack covers close range, your grimoire spells require mana, and your dodge lets you break out of bad positions. Spell keys for abilities that have not been unlocked yet will not respond, so do not worry if some keys seem broken early on. If you run out of mana mid-fight, spells simply stop working until it recovers.
- Left-click to perform your normal melee attack — learn its range before relying on spells.
- Use Z, X, and C to cast unlocked grimoire spells; locked slots will not fire.
- Press Q to dash and dodge — reposition before damage stacks up rather than after.
- Watch your mana bar; if it empties, raise Mana Capacity in the Stats screen.
Spending stat points wisely
TableEvery player level gives you stat points to spend in the Stats screen, and each stat solves a different problem. Melee and Magic both raise melee and spell damage by equal amounts, so neither one is wasted regardless of your playstyle. Defense adds health, and Mana Capacity expands your mana pool. If your current spread is not working, Reset Stats lets you redistribute everything — check the cost before you confirm.
| Dying too fast | Defense, which adds health |
| Kills taking too long | Magic or Melee, which raise damage equally |
| Running out of mana | Mana Capacity, which extends your mana pool |
| Prefer normal attacks | Melee, though note that each grimoire handles normal attacks a little differently |
| Wrong spread | Reset Stats in the Stats screen, after checking the cost shown on the confirmation screen |
Choosing and obtaining a grimoire
SummaryThere are twelve grimoires spread across four rarity tiers. Fire, Water, and Wind are the starting pool. Earth, Lightning, Plant, Poison, and Chain sit in the next tier. World Tree and Dark are rarer still, and Light and Anti-Magic have the lowest drop odds of all. A standard spin costs 160 Gems. You can also buy grimoires from the shop using Yul, the in-game currency, or with Robux — these are three separate operations with three different buttons, so check the currency label before you tap. Some grimoires are consumed on use rather than kept permanently; read the item description before you activate one. If the shop shows Out of Stock, check the restock timer and come back later.
- Fire, Water, Wind starting pool, available on your free first spin
- Earth, Lightning, Plant, Poison, Chain mid-tier, obtainable after your first spin
- World Tree, Dark higher rarity, harder to land
- Light, Anti-Magic lowest drop odds; not getting them does not block your progress
- Standard spin cost 160 Gems per roll
- Currencies Gems, Yul, and Robux are separate; always check which one a button requires
Awakening your grimoire
StepAwakening is how you push your grimoire past its current level cap and sharpen its damage and critical hit rate. Every awakening has three requirements: a minimum Book Level, specific materials, and enough currency. These requirements differ between grimoires and between awakening stages, so do not assume one book's recipe applies to another. Spell Pages, which drop from bosses, are a core material you will need to farm.
- Open Awaken find it inside the grimoire screen and read the full requirement list for the next stage.
- Check Book Level confirm your grimoire has reached the minimum level before farming anything else.
- Farm Spell Pages repeat boss fights until you have collected the required pages.
- Collect other materials check field chests and the materials shop for anything else the recipe needs.
- Confirm and awaken once all three conditions are met, run the awakening from the grimoire screen.
The island progression ladder
SummaryThe world is built as a ladder of six combat islands, each with its own level range. Starter Island covers levels 1 through 159. Skull Island follows at 160 through 379. Jungle Island runs from 380 to 899. Poison Island spans 900 to 2,099. Castle Island covers 2,100 through 4,999. Zombie Island caps the ladder at 5,000 through 6,000. The hub area and Shadow Spire, the 15-wave dungeon, share the same save file — entering the dungeon moves you to a different place without creating a new character. In Shadow Spire, the highest-level member in your party affects the rewards the group receives.
- Starter Island levels 1–159
- Skull Island levels 160–379
- Jungle Island levels 380–899
- Poison Island levels 900–2,099
- Castle Island levels 2,100–4,999

Keeping free rewards coming in
CheckThe rewards screen has two separate tabs: Daily, which resets each day, and Playtime, which stacks up based on how long you play. A Mystery Grimoire is available for free if you give the game a thumbs-up, add it to your Favourites, and join the developer group Flecks Labs: Legends — check the in-game prompt for the exact current requirements. Codes are shared through the game's Discord server and are entered in a dedicated in-game screen; they expire and can have use limits, so enter them as soon as you get them. As of September 28, 2026, there are ten working codes tracked on this site.
- Check the Daily tab every session.
- Check the Playtime tab it builds up with time spent in-game.
- Claim the Mystery Grimoire requires a thumbs-up, a Favourite, and joining Flecks Labs: Legends.
- Join the Discord server codes are distributed there and have expiry limits.

TipsThere are 17 Magic Knight ranks running from Junior 5th at the bottom to Grand 1st at the top. Reaching higher ranks unlocks auras and stat buffs for your character. Alongside the rank system, the season pass — called Road to Wizard King — gives you another set of goals to work through at your own pace.
- Ranks go from Junior 5th up to Grand 1st across 17 steps.
- Higher ranks unlock auras and stat buffs.
- The season pass runs in parallel — progress it alongside your rank climb.

Common questions
FAQCan I pick which grimoire I get on my first spin?
No — your first spin draws randomly from Fire, Water, and Wind only. Earth, Lightning, Plant, Poison, and Chain become available in later spins, while Light and Anti-Magic have the lowest odds in the entire pool. Not landing a rare grimoire early does not stop you from progressing.
I leveled up but no new spells appeared — what's wrong?
New spell slots are tied to your grimoire's Book Level, not your player level. You unlock a slot at Book Level 10 and another at Book Level 20, all within the grimoire you already have. Keep fighting with your current book to raise its Book Level rather than spinning for a new one.
Are Light and Lightning the same grimoire?
No — they are two separate books. Light is the light-element grimoire with very low drop odds, while Lightning is the lightning-element grimoire in the mid tier. The similar English names cause confusion in shops and guides, so always check the full name before purchasing.
How do I use a redeem code?
Open the dedicated code entry screen inside the game and type the code there. Codes are shared through the Discord server and can expire or hit a use limit, so enter them as soon as you have them. After redeeming, check what you received before closing the screen.
Does entering Shadow Spire reset my character?
No — the hub and Shadow Spire share one save file. Going into the dungeon simply moves you to a different place in the same game. In a group, the party member with the highest level affects the rewards everyone receives.
