Choosing and buying a moveset
StepMovesets are split into two types: Breathing Styles and Blood Demon Arts. You select one from the Movesets GUI while still in the main menu. Water Breathing and Arrow BDA are free; every other moveset costs 100 Rogue Coins for your first purchase, then rises to a maximum of 300 RC after that — meaning new players can buy at most three movesets when using the FREEMOVESETS code.
- Open the Movesets GUI find it in the main menu before you enter a match.
- Start with Water or Arrow these two are free, so you can learn the game without spending anything.
- Earn Rogue Coins complete Daily Goals or use microtransactions; RC is also spent on Nichirin Blade color spins, Execution Effects, clothes, and emotes, so budget accordingly.
- Enter codes press J on PC to open the code screen and redeem any active codes for free RC or rewards.
- Watch for the hourglass icon it marks Early Access movesets that are still in development and require a separate gamepass.
The Breath Bar and why it matters
TipsPress G on PC or Y on Xbox to fill the Breath Bar whenever you have a safe moment. The benefits it gives you are significant enough that ignoring it is a real mistake.
- Your sprint speed increases while the Breath Bar is active.
- Regular dashes turn into faster Flash Steps when the bar is full.
- You gain the ability to wall-jump once per activation.
- Health regenerates more quickly while you are breathing.
- If you find a gap in a fight, stepping back and breathing can recover enough health to win an M1 exchange.
Blocking, parrying, and guard breaking
WarnHold F (PC) or X (Xbox) to block incoming attacks. Many moves can be blocked, and some can even be punished when blocked, letting you start your own combo. A perfect block on certain moves stuns the attacker for about two seconds, giving you a window to counter.
Core combat mechanics
SummaryEvery moveset has several layers of mechanics working at once. Getting familiar with each term below will help you read fights and make smarter decisions.
Building combos with your moveset
TipsCombo-extending moves vary by moveset. The list below highlights the extending tools for each style so you know where to focus your practice.
- Water Breathing extends with Lateral Water Wheel, Flowing Dance, Waterfall Basin, Constant Flux, and Dead Calm — for Constant Flux, keep M2ing until the water strikes ragdoll the opponent, then circle them and M1.
- Thunder Breathing extends with Thunderclap and Flash, Sixfold, and Godspeed.
- Sound Breathing extends with Roar and String Performance.
- Flame Breathing extends with Unknowing Fire and Blazing Sun M2.
- Sun Breathing extends with Dance or Flame Dance into M1s, Clear Blue Sky into M1s, and Fake Rainbow into Fire Wheel into M1s.
- Nezuko BDA can reach a full one-shot combo without an Ultimate or a wall by using Claw Strikes, Bloody Kick M2, and Exploding Blood M1 — Afro-dashing after Exploding Blood M1 extends it further.
- Beast Breathing combos off Devour, Crazy Cutting M2, and Explosive Rush when movestacked — using Devour after Explosive Rush activates Devour Rush.
- Fight strategically rather than recklessly — using Guard Break moves at the right moment, rather than burning all your skills at once, gives you a much better chance of winning.
Ranked mode
CheckRanked Mode matches you against other players to earn Elo Points that appear on a leaderboard. Formats available are 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4. A match goes to whoever reaches 3 round wins first, with each round ending when one side knocks down the entire opposing team. Maps are chosen randomly each match.
- A sound effect plays when a match is found, so you do not need to watch the screen while queuing.
- Track your Elo use the leaderboard (L key on PC) to see where you stand.

Common questions
FAQHow do I redeem codes?
On PC, press J to open the code input screen. Codes are single-use, so enter each one as soon as you see it.
Why does my moveset cost more now than it did before?
After your first paid moveset purchase the price increases, up to a maximum of 300 RC. This means new players can afford at most three movesets once the FREEMOVESETS code is applied.
What is the difference between an Evasive and an I-Frame move?
An Evasive is a dedicated escape skill that pushes attackers away and stuns them — it is your get-out-of-combo tool. An I-Frame is a property built into certain moves (including some Evasives) where you are physically immune to damage for a brief window. Not every I-Frame move is an Evasive, and not every Evasive has I-Frames.
How does Ranked Mode work?
You queue for 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4 matches and earn Elo Points based on your results. The first side to win three rounds wins the match, and each round ends when the opposing team is fully knocked down. Maps are randomly selected each game.
When should I use my Ultimate?
Ultimates deal the most damage in your kit but have long cooldowns. Some Ultimates also have HP requirements, such as Hinokami Kagura's Dragon Sun Halo Head Dance, so learn your moveset's condition before relying on it at a critical moment.
