Choosing your role at the start

Step
In short Your first choice — hero, police, or criminal — shapes everything about how you play.

When you load in, head to the character editor app to set up your look before anything else. Then choose one of the three paths. Heroes and police officers earn money by taking down criminals, while criminals earn money by robbing places like the Mad City Mall. All three paths are genuinely different.

  1. Open the character editor customize your appearance before you pick a role.
  2. Pick hero or police you will spend your time hunting criminals and earning from each fight you win.
  3. Pick criminal your income comes from heists, and you will need to dodge heroes and officers while you work.
